Adjust Maintenance Forecast Future Due Dates When Using the Last Completion Option

Maintenance programs define and generate a preventive maintenance forecast for one or more affected assets in a maintenance-enabled organization. The forecast is used as the basis for creating preventative maintenance work orders, thus reducing the workload for maintenance planners and allowing them to focus on maintenance program auditing, optimization, and exception-based events.

For Day or Meter interval forecast methods, it is generally recommended that you select the Next work order only check box and set the method to Calculate Next Due as Last Completion. This allows the application to dynamically regenerate the next due dates based on the last work order's actual completion date and meter reading, if applicable. However, if work orders remain incomplete before the next due date, the forecast may not adjust properly, resulting in future due dates being skipped over and not considered for work order creation.

In this update, you can enable the dynamic adjustment of future due dates based on the scheduled completion and actual completion dates. If you proactively update the scheduled completion date before the next due date, the forecast dynamically adjusts all the future due dates, maintaining the forecast sequence. If you don't update the scheduled completion date and it overruns one or many of the next due dates. The application won't dynamically adjust the future due dates as it waits for the last completion of the open work order. However, when you complete the work order, the application uses the actual completion date to dynamically recreate the correct forecast sequence of due dates going forward into the future. This allows the next due date to be available for work order creation.

To enable this new capability, set the asset maintenance parameter option, Allow Maintenance Forecast to Adjust Future Due Dates When Using the Last Completion to Yes.

Enable the dynamic adjustment of future due dates within the forecast horizon based on previous work order scheduled completion dates and meter reading entry. This mitigates the challenges when work orders aren't completed before the next forecasted due date and the forecast is unable to dynamically adjust and push out the future due dates.

Steps to Enable

Set the parameter option, Allow Maintenance Forecast to Adjust Future Due Dates When Using the Last Completion to Yes in the Manage Asset Maintenance Parameters of the Setup and Maintenance work area.

Tips And Considerations

When the parameter option to Allow Maintenance Forecast to Adjust Future Due Dates When Using the Last Completion is set to No, the application doesn't adjust the next due dates based on the last work order in history based on the scheduled completion date. It doesn't adjust work orders completed after the next due date in the forecast as well. This is the default behavior.

When the parameter option is set to Yes, the application adjusts the next due dates in the forecast sequence, based on the last active work order, either scheduled or actual completion date. For this option to work, you should either use the next work order option as Yes or have a forecast window that allows only one active work order at a time.
