Report Scrap Quantity During Work Execution at a Workstation
On the shop floor, only items that meet predefined quality standards can proceed to the next stage or be shipped. Parts that fail to meet these standards are either rejected for rework or scrapped in case they cannot be repaired or reused. With this update, operators can directly report items as scrap and update the corresponding scrap quantities when executing production at a workstation.
Additionally, operators can select the reason for the scrap from a set of predefined codes, which are recorded in the transaction. User privileges must be enabled for operators to be able to report scrap quantities during production.
Report Scrap During Execution at a Workstation
Manufacturers can streamline the scrap reporting process, which reduces delays and allows for real-time tracking of production waste. Capturing scrap reasons can help identify issues early, facilitating data-driven decisions to reduce material loss and improve process efficiencies.
Here's the demo of these capabilities:
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- Quantities in ready status at an operation can be scrapped.
- You can optionally select a reason for scrapping. Values for reason code can be configured by adding values to the standard lookup type ORA_WIE_REASON_CODE - Reason Codes for Scrap and Reject Transactions.

Access Requirements
Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains the following privileges can report scrap quantities during execution at a workstation:
- Execute Production at a Workstation (WIP_EXECUTE_WORKSTATION)
- Report Operation Transactions (WIP_REPORT_OPERATION_TRANSACTIONS_PRIV)
- Report Scrap Transactions (WIP_REPORT_SCRAP_TRANSACTIONS_PRIV)
