One of your ideas has been delivered from your suggestion.Redwood: Select and Schedule Your Preferred Fulfillment Options for Order Lines

Examine the expected shipment dates and arrival dates for order lines on sales orders that are in draft or submitted status. You can also examine the alternatives that are available to source supply from another location or split the line. Select your preferred alternative, and then schedule supply.

Use Check Availability to determine the optimal promise dates and to examine alternative options for fulfillment. You can examine potential availability dates, alternative options, and schedule sales orders that are in draft status from the Check Availability page.

If the results are acceptable, you can submit the order.

Try it:

  • Go to the Order Management work area, then click Tasks > Sales Orders (New).
  • On the Sales Orders page, create a new sales order, add an order line, then click Save.
  • Select one or more order lines, then click More Actions > Check Availability.

If the results are acceptable, click Schedule on the Check Availability page, then submit the sales order.

Improve fulfillment. Examine availability dates, options, and schedule your sales order.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

There are two ways to access the Check Availability action. Go to the Sales Orders page, then:

  • Create a new sales order, add an order line, click Save, select the order line, then select the action.
  • Search for and open an order that's in Processing status, select one or more order lines, then select the action.

NOTE:

  • The Check Availability page sets aside supply only until you collect supply for the sales order. Promising will release supply after collection finishes and makes that supply available to other sales orders. We recommend that you submit the draft order as soon as Check Availability provides you the promising results that you need.

  • Make sure you submit the sales order so Order Management can fulfill the item in your back-to-back flow according to Promising's recommendation.

In this update, you can't use Check Availability with:

  • A configured item or an internal material transfer.
  • Substitutions.
  • An item that you promise with source promising. You must use database promising.
  • An item where you allocate supply in a hierarchy.
  • An implementation that cross references data to a system that resides outside of Oracle SCM.

These capabilities might become available in a future update.
