Redwood: Apply Promotions According to Items on Sales Orders
Before Update 25A, you could create a promotion according to whether the line was eligible for the promotion, such as the quantity or shipping address on the order line. You can now use another item on the sales order to determine whether to apply the promotion. You can apply a simple discount, tiered discount, or a free item.
For example:
- Buy at least 1 Modern Standard Door and at least 2 Bay Window, then get 10% off any item you buy that's in the Modern Standard Windows category.
Try it:
- Create a 10% discount for any purchase that you make from the Modern Windows category:
- Click the link in the Additional Buy Items column, and then add a rule for the windows and doors:
For the windows, this rule says:
Total Buy Item Quantity Greater Than or Equals 2 Item is one of Bay Window Unit of Measure is one of Each
And then for the doors:
Total Buy Item Quantity Greater Than or Equals 1 Item Category is one of Modern Standard Doors Unit of Measure is one of Each
Click Additional Buy Items, then select from a list of attributes:
- Currency
- Item
- Item Category
- Total Buy Item Amount
- Total Buy Item Quantity
- Unit of Measure
More Examples
- Buy a coat and a matching scarf, then get 15% off any of the items that you buy from the Accessories category.
- Buy a laptop, mouse, and keyboard, then get 30% off the 24" Monitor item.
- Buy a laptop and monitor, then get 10% off the Leather Laptop Bag item and 15% off the Groovy Keyboard item.
- Buy $1,000 worth of items from the Hardware category, then get $5 off each item that you buy on the sales order.
Not Supported
- Buy 1 coat and get 15% off only 2 items from the Accessories category.
- Get 60% off books for every quantity of 2 of pens that you buy. For example, if you buy 4 pens, you're not going to get a 120% discount on books.
Use other items from your inventory to promote sales.

Tips And Considerations
You must not use the For Every Amount attribute or the For Every Quantity attribute with a simple or tier discount. If you must aggregate, use Total Buy Quantity or Total Buy Amount.
If your rule has a condition for:
- Item or item quantity. You must include a condition for the unit of measure.
- Item amount. You must include a condition for the currency.
You can click Validate to make sure you set your rules up correctly.
If you apply the rule for:
- A specific item. Pricing will apply the discount on all order lines that have that item in the sales order. Assume your order has 5 lines. If you apply a discount on the Glorious Bouquet item, and if order lines 1, 3 and 5 have the Glorious Bouquet, then Pricing will apply the discount only on lines 1, 3, and 5.
- All items. Pricing will apply the discount on all items on all 5 lines.
