Redwood: Manage Transaction Sources and Types Using a Redwood Page

Transaction sources are the entities against which a transaction is charged, like a purchase order or sales order. Transaction types classify the specific transactions within a transaction source, like a purchase order receipt or sales order issue. Together, transaction sources and transaction types define the behavior of all material transactions within your warehouse. In some circumstances, you need the ability to create a custom transaction source and type. For example, your organization frequently donates items that you manufacture to charity. So you define a transaction source called Charity and a transaction type called Issue to Charity using the Issue from Stores transaction action. Then, when you donate an item to charity, you create a miscellaneous transaction using the Issue to Charity transaction type. This allows you to properly track and account for all your charity donations quickly and easily. Now, you have the ability to create these transaction sources and types using a Redwood page.

You can now manage your inventory transaction sources and types more efficiently using the new Inventory Transaction Sources and Types page, accessible from the Setup and Maintenance work area.

Here what you can do with the new Inventory Transaction Sources and Types page:

  • Search and View: Easily search for and view inventory transaction sources along with their associated transaction types.
  • Filter Options: Refine your search by filtering sources and types as System-Defined, User-Defined, or All.
  • Create New Records: Add new inventory transaction sources and transaction types with a streamlined create page.
  • Update Existing Records: Modify existing transaction sources and types with just a few clicks using the edit functionality.

Tips And Considerations

In the Setup and Maintenance work area, the Redwood version of the Inventory Transaction Sources and Types page is enabled by default in this update, but the existing version of the Manage Inventory Transaction Sources and Types page is still available in the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering. You should move to the Redwood version of the page at your earliest convenience, because the existing version of the page will be removed from the application in a future update.
