Automatically Transact Goods Based on PAR Counts for Quantity-Tracked PAR Locations
Periodic automatic replenishment (PAR) is an inventory management technique that involves setting PAR levels for items in a specific location and then carrying out periodic inventory counts to determine when to replenish any particular item. Though PAR locations aren't generally quantity tracked, there are certain situations where tracking the quantity of items in a specific PAR location is appropriate. Prior to this update, the quantity recorded during a PAR count didn't update the on-hand quantity of items in these quantity-tracked PAR locations. Instead, these locations relied on separate issue transactions to maintain an accurate on-hand level. Now, when you don't need to track the exact issuing transactions that consume on-hand quantity for a quantity-tracked PAR location, you can automatically transact goods based on the count quantity entered during a PAR count.
The Automatically Transact Goods Based on PAR Counts for Quantity-Tracked PAR Locations feature is applicable when all these conditions are met:
- Opt-in enabled: The Automatically Transact Goods Based on PAR Counts for Quantity-Tracked PAR Locations feature must be enabled.
- Quantity-tracked subinventory: The subinventory where the PAR count is conducted must have Quantity Tracked enabled.
- PAR settings:
- Replenish Count Method: Count
- Default Replenish Count Type: On-hand quantity
- Plain items: The items counted must be plain items.
PAR Subinventory Setup
If the quantity counted during the PAR count differs from the system recorded on-hand quantity, the system automatically generates a Miscellaneous Receipt or Miscellaneous Issue transaction.
- Receipt: If the counted quantity is greater than the on-hand quantity.
- Issue: If the counted quantity is less than the on-hand quantity.
This feature provides you the ability to ensure that inventory levels remain accurate by adjusting them based on the actual PAR count.
