Redwood: Simplify Configuration and Processing for B2B Messaging

Enable this feature to leverage a new, streamlined setup, and to process B2B messages for procure-to-pay, e-invoicing and French e-reporting.

Two new tasks are provided for simplified setup and processing, B2B Partners and B2B Connections, and a new option to Assign Connections is available in B2B Documents.

If you enable this feature, you can gain access to these additional four features:

  • Comply with French E-Reporting Requirements
  • Eliminate Supplier Setup for Purchasing and Receiving
  • Eliminate Account and Site-Specific Setup for E-Invoicing
  • Define Default Connection and Message Routing Options for B2B Messages

Each of these is described in more detail.

  • This feature reduces the effort required to setup documents for B2B messaging by allowing different types of connections to be assigned to outbound documents. Additionally, an option to derive partner details from the message payloads is now available.
  • No specific configuration other than an active connection is required for processing inbound messages that are in response to an outbound message. For example, PO Acknowledgments, PO based invoices, and shipments.

Steps to Enable

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management

At a high level, after you have enabled the feature, you’ll need to perform the following tasks to complete setup:

  1. Select the B2B Connections from the Task Panel to:
    1. Configure your delivery methods.
    2. Define your providers (both direct and service providers) if you are not using the predefined providers.
    3. Configure your connections if you aren't using the predefined ones. A connection identifies a specific configuration for exchanging a document with a third party.
  2. Select the B2B Partners task from the Task Panel to define customer and supplier specific B2B properties. This task is optional and only needed if you choose not to retrieve partner identification from the payload or if you are using domain value maps or application partner codes.
  3. Select B2B Documents from the Task Panel and
    1. Configure the document properties for each of the documents you are going to exchange.
    2. Assign document or partner (customer or supplier) connections to each of your outbound documents.

Each of these tasks are outlined in detail in the specific features below.

Tips And Considerations

  • The documents listed for the features below are the only ones available for simplified setup and processing at this time. If you use additional documents that are not listed, and you enable this feature, you won’t be able to use them.
  • Only user-defined service providers are supported currently. If you are using a predefined service provider, you won't be able to use this feature in this update.
  • Override message definitions aren’t supported at this time, so if you have existing override message definitions, you won’t be able to use this feature in this update.
  • If you are a current Oracle Collaboration Messaging Framework user, when you enable the feature Simplify Configuration and Processing for B2B Messaging, a scheduled process is initiated that migrates your existing data for simplified setup and processing.
  • You can choose to opt-out at any time, but if you do so, you have to delete the setup data that you created after opt-in.
  • Customer and supplier connection assignments are created for the documents listed in your document set up in supplier, customer, and customer account B2B Configuration in the previous release.
  • If you use a single service provider, you could replace your supplier and customer connections for your documents with a single default connection for each document for easier maintenance.
