Select a Manufacturing Relationship to Create Requisitions for Items
Shop for items based on manufacturer relationships in the Redwood Self Service Procurement application. To view all manufacturer relationships for an item, you can now go to the Enter Requisition Line page, where you can select the appropriate relationship for your requisition. Before this update, manufacturer and manufacturer part number details would only default for an item with a unique relationship.
Use the Enter Requisition Line page to utilize the advanced search option to search for items. On this page, matching search results will also display manufacturer and manufacturer part number details if they are defined for the master item. You can then select the item based on the desired manufacturer details.
Display Manufacturer and Part Number Details for Master Items
The selected item and manufacturer relationship details will then default when creating the requisition line.
Default Item with Manufacturer Relationship Details on the Line
You can view and select items based on your existing relationships with manufacturers, which allows the necessary details to be automatically filled in without requiring manual input. However, you still have the option to modify these details if needed. Additionally, through extensibility, you can set the manufacturer and manufacturer part number as read-only on the line.
Steps to Enable
Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.
Offering: Procurement
If you want to use the Create Requisitions for Items Based on Manufacturer Relationships feature, then you must opt in to one or both of these features:
- Enable the Redwood Version as the Default Self Service Procurement Application: Makes the Purchase Requisitions (New) work area available to all your users, and hides the Purchase Requisitions work area from all your users.
- Procure Goods and Services Using the Redwood Self Service Procurement Application: Keeps the Purchase Requisitions work area available to all your users, and makes the Purchase Requisitions (New) work area available to the users who are assigned this privilege: Manage Requisition with the Redwood Self Service Procurement Application (POR_MANAGE_REQ_WITH_PWA_PRIV).
If you’ve already opted in, then you don’t have to opt in again.
In addition, you need to opt in to the Search and Select Items using Item Attributes feature under Self Service Procurement.
To search and select inventory items on the Enter Requisition line page, configure item search by following these steps.
- Opt in to the Search Items Using the New User Interface feature under the Product Management offering.
- Enable the ORA_FND_SEARCH_INITIAL_INGEST_JOB_SCHEDULE_ENABLED profile option.
- Configure data security for item classes for each pairing of roles to organizations or users to organizations. The root item class data security configuration is only required when Oracle Product Hub is licensed. To know how to set up data security for item classes, refer to the Set Up Data Security for Item Classes topic.
- Configure the item index and view. Before using item search, you must make sure the index and views are configured. You must build the index at startup. All indexes are managed through the Configure Index task and all views are managed through the Configure View task. For an overview of product management search, refer to the Overview of Product Management Search topic.
Tips And Considerations
- If a manufacturer relationship status is Obsolete on the item, it will still appear in the search results when selecting the item. However, once selected, the manufacturer details will be omitted and won't be included by default on the requisition line.
- You must run the necessary ESS jobs to view the manufacturer relationship details when searching for items.
