Specify When to Authorize Credit Card's Amount for Sales Orders
You can now specify when you want Oracle Order Management to authorize a credit card's amount for each sales order. Authorize the amount when you submit the order or wait until you create the order's invoice and settle payment.
Realize these benefits:
- Specify when you want to process the payment so it more closely meets your business requirements.
- Improve how you manage your cash flow. Wait to authorize until after you invoice so you can avoid an early fund hold and to align payment with fulfillment.
- Improve trust and satisfaction with your customer. Avoid premature charges for early orders or backordered items.
- Reduce payment disputes. Authorize payment closer to when you invoice so you can avoid a chargeback or dispute.
Create a sales order for a customer where you have assigned a credit card. Submit the order, then Order Management will process it according to how you set the Authorize Credit Card's Amount order management parameter. Click View Details next to Payment Status:
Select a value on the Payment Status dialog, such as Skipped Authorizing Credit Card's Amount:
Steps to Enable
Set the Authorize Credit Card's Amount order management parameter to one of these values for all business units or for a specific business unit:
- Authorize at Submit
- Don't Authorize at Submit
Tips And Considerations
- If you don't set the parameter, then Order Management will authorize the credit card when you submit the order, by default.
- If you authorize the credit card before you import a sales order, and if you set the parameter to skip authorization, then Order Management won't authorize again regardless of the amount that you authorized in your source system.
