Define item attributes for sublot management and self-service commerce
You can manage item behavior more accurately across manufacturing and sales channels using the new operational attributes for sublot controls and assisted purchasing. These attributes reduce setup errors, enforce valid lot configurations, and makes sure self-service products remain visible to buyers even when sales assistance is required.
The new operational attributes help you to manage item behavior across inventory, sales, order management, change management, imports, services, search, audit, and reporting.
- Use the Parent Lot Required attribute in Inventory specify whether sublot functionality applies to an item as shown in the following screenshot. When you set Parent Lot Required to Yes:
- Child Lot Enabled is defaulted to Yes and can be updated.
- Copy Lot attributes is defaulted to Yes and is disabled for update.

- Use the Assisted Purchase Required attribute in Sales and Order Management as shown in the following screenshot to identify sellable items that need sales representative involvement to complete a transaction. When set to No, buyers can purchase the product directly through self-service.

Assisted Purchase Required attribute
This feature benefits your business by improving consistency in lot-management decisions and helping organizations route self-service purchases that require sales support. With this feature, downstream systems can access and use the same trusted data across item-management processes and integrations. This strengthens communication across Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM applications and helps make the product master record as the central source for product details, configuration, and setup.
Steps to enable and configure
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips and considerations
- The Parent Lot Required attribute defaults to null and is considered as No for functional purposes.
- You can set Parent Lot Required to Yes only when Child Lot Enabled is Yes.
- You can't change Parent Lot Required when the item has on-hand inventory or active or enabled lots.
- By default, Assisted Purchase Required is set to No.
- Both attributes can be routed through new item requests and change orders and can be redlined in change orders.
- Both attributes are exposed in imports, services, search, audit, history, and OTBI.
