Decimal quantity support for configurator
You can configure products using fractional quantities in Configurator across runtime, rule evaluation, and integration flows. Use decimal quantities for configurable options and decimal sales structure components. Decimal quantity support enables more accurate configuration, pricing, rule evaluation, and fulfillment for products that are sold or consumed in fractional units.
Realize these benefits:
- Improve order and fulfillment accuracy for products sold or consumed in fractional units, such as cable, chemicals, coatings, and engineered materials.
- Increase rule accuracy by evaluating minimum and maximum constraints, numeric contributions, and dependencies with decimal values.
- Reduce manual workarounds and post-configuration order corrections.
To set the decimal quantity:
- In Product Management, set the Order Management Indivisible attribute for an item:
- Leave the attribute blank or set it to No to allow decimal quantities.
- Set it to Yes when the item must use whole-number quantities.
- In your configurator model, use supported components and rules with decimal quantities.
For a Decimal Number supplemental structure component, define the minimum and maximum values. - At runtime or through an integration, provide the supported fractional quantity.
The configurator evaluates the quantity and propagates it through the configuration hierarchy using decimal calculations.
Example
A commercial solar system can include 12.5 meters of cable, 15.0 rail sections, or 125.75 ballast blocks. With decimal quantity support, the configurator can retain these values in the configuration, evaluate them in rules, calculate dependent line quantities, and send them to downstream fulfillment processes.
Steps to enable and configure
To use the Redwood: Decimal quantity support for configurator feature, opt in to the Redwood: Manage Configured Items on Sales Orders feature. If you've already opted in to this feature, no further action is required.
Tips and considerations
- Decimal quantity availability is determined by the item's Order Management Indivisible attribute set in Product Management. Validate this attribute before using fractional quantities in a configuration.
- Mathematical functions such as Ceiling, Floor, Round and Truncate are supported for numbers.
- Decimal value sets aren't supported for transactional item attributes in this update.

If you're using custom job roles, then you need to add privileges identified as new in this update as well as validate that you've the existing privileges listed.
