Handle date changes in contract lines as inline updates in purchase agreements

The Import Purchase Agreements from External Purchase Prices scheduled process can now handle start or end date changes in contract lines as inline updates to corresponding Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs).

Prior to this update, changes to a contract line's start or end date resulted in the existing BPA line being end dated and a replacement BPA line being created. With this update, the Import Purchase Agreements from External Purchase Prices process updates only the existing BPA line, preserving the existing agreement line instead of expiring it and creating a new one.

Inline updates apply to date-driven changes and can also apply to supported attribute changes such as price, vendor part number, and description updates.

Handling these updates inline reduces duplicate BPA lines and manual maintenance caused by frequent External Purchase Prices updates. It also helps maintain a cleaner agreement structure that improves data clarity, supports downstream mappings that rely on stable line references, and helps procurement teams manage high-volume contract updates more efficiently.

Steps to enable and configure

Tips and considerations

  • Description-based to item-based line conversions continue to create a new BPA line.
  • If an include action follows an exclude action for the same line, the Import Purchase Agreements from External Purchase Prices process updates existing BPA line instead of creating another line.
