Quota-based Scheduler UI now supports Availability-based Booking in the Redwood User Experience

Service Center agents in the Redwood UI can now use availability-based and quota-based booking when scheduling a work order. The data returned in the scheduler is based on the configuration for the bucket resource in Oracle Field Service that is selected as the work order area.

Availability-based booking allows agents to book work orders based on both the capacity allocated for the type of work being performed and the actual availability of their field service resources. This ensures if you are booking a work order for a specific time slot, you actually have resources available for the estimated duration of the work to be performed.

Steps to Enable

Availability-based booking is only supported in our Oracle Field Service integration. To utilize availability-based booking, do the following:

  • Enable the Oracle Field Service work order in the Manage Work Order Integrations task in Fusion Setup and Maintenance
  • Complete the setup in Manage Service to Oracle Field Service Integration setup task including creating and enabling a capacity based scheduler in Fusion Setup and Maintenance
  • Configure bucket resources in Oracle Field Service to utilize quota management based on booking intervals

Tips And Considerations

The data populating the capacity-based scheduler is based on the booking configuration in Oracle Field Service for the work order area selected which maps to a bucket resource in Oracle Field Service. The configuration occurs in Oracle Field Service and for availability-based booking, the quota management should be set to based on booking intervals. You can have a mix of bucket resources based on time slots (which is quota-based) plus booking intervals (which is availability-based booking).
