Native interaction between Fusion Field Service and Fusion Project Management

Oracle Fusion Field Service 25D introduces native integration with Fusion Project Management, enabling direct interaction without requiring Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC). This feature streamlines workflows by allowing you to link field activities directly with project tasks, provided projects are already set up in Fusion Project Management.

After a project is created, supervisors in the field can begin creating activities in Oracle Fusion Field Service. For each activity, the supervisor can automatically generate a financial project task and associate it with an existing project. It can be done simply by selecting the desired project from the available list and enter the necessary task details, such as task name, task number, duration, start date, and end date. Oracle Fusion Field Service then automatically creates the project task and links it to your activity. Task-related information is stored exclusively in the project task and is not duplicated in the activity record. You can also populate descriptive flexfields for the project or task as needed.

After a project task is created or updated in the project management system, the field service activity can be assigned to a mobile worker. The mobile worker can report progress on the activity, which then updates the status of the related project task. Status changes and progress updates are automatically synchronized between the activity and the project task.

When additional details need to be recorded, you can enter this information directly into the project task using the Debriefing page in Oracle Fusion Field Service.

Business Benefit

Ability for the mobile worker to report the status change and the progress on the project task directly from the mobile device natively without the need to implement OIC integration.

Steps to Enable

To enable native interaction with Project Management Projects and Tasks, follow these steps:

  1. Configure Screens: In Oracle Fusion Field Service, set up the relevant Screens (such as Activity Details or Start Activity page) and choose the project or project task fields you want to display.
  2. Add Required Fields: On the Add Activity page, include the following fields as read/write:

    • Project ID
    • Project Task Name
    • Project Task Number
    • Task Description
    • Effort (by adding Activity Duration)
  3. Set Optional Fields (if needed): You may also add:
  • Start Date (by including SLA Start Date and Time)
  • End Date (by including SLA End Date and Time)

After configuration, each time you create an activity and assign a project to it, you can automatically create corresponding financial project tasks within the specified financial project. When selecting a project, a pop-up displays a list of projects available to the user.

Tips And Considerations

Fusion Project Management does not propagate data back to the activity. Only changes made in the Oracle Fusion Field Service UI will appear in Oracle Fusion Field Service. The system sets project task start and end dates according to the SLA start time and SLA end time in the activity. If the activity cannot be completed within the task's designated timeframe, the system displays a warning. The task effort is based on the activity duration, and any changes to the activity duration automatically update the effort.
