Service Contract Usage Report

Use the Service Contract Usage Report to view complex customer usage data that is not otherwise available in the Usage History chart. Electric and gas are metered and measured in ways that can create fluctuations in a customer's bill and key account managers often need to view detailed usage data to:

  • Help them understand their bill
  • Provide insight into issues that impact the account
  • Provide appropriate guidance related to plans for expansion

The new Service Contract Usage Report summarizes complex usage data by service contract and presents it in a table on the Service Contract Usage History page to help you quickly identify key facts. This data can help you determine  how efficiently electricity is being utilized by providing power and load factor measurements. Data available in the report includes:

  • Bill segment end date
  • If that bill period contained estimated reads
  • Days billed
  • Amount billed
  • Consumption by usage identifier
  • Power and load factors (for electric service contracts only)

Being able to view usage data provides you with a number of benefits, including:

  • Improved customer service: By understanding an account's usage and consumption, you can identify potential problems and provide targeted assistance.
  • Reduced consumption: By identifying areas where accounts use more energy than necessary, you can help customers make changes to reduce their usage. This can lead to lower energy bills for the account and reduced costs for utilities.
  • Improved grid reliability: By understanding usage patterns, you can better manage your accounts' impact on the grid and reduce the risk of outages.
  • Increased customer satisfaction: By proactively providing usage reports that help customers manage their use, you can improve customer satisfaction and loyalty with your largest and most strategic accounts.

Tips And Considerations

This feature requires configurations that should already be established in your customer information system, including values for:

  • Service type
  • Unit of measure (UOM)
  • Time of use (TOU)
  • Service quantity identifier (SQI)
  • Rate schedules for service

To verify your configurations related to this feature:

  1. Review the settings in the Master Configuration Billing and Usage Display Configuration to ensure settings for Usage Values Drop Down are in place for the service type and related units of measure.
  1. Verify that configurations for each applicable service type rate schedule have been set up in the Usage Year View – Service Quantities and Colors section. Note that these colors are not used in the Customer Experience solutions.
  1. Review the values in the Extendable Lookup Standard Measurement Identifier, and verify that the settings configured for measured usage are similar to the Usage Identifier in CX4U.
  1. Review and configure related settings in the Master Configuration Measurement Identification - Electric/Gas Configuration. This includes identifying the channels used in the system (referencing the Standard Measurement Identifiers), and identifying the Time of Use Map that is applicable for each service type rate schedule.
