Import Your Visualizations in the Visualization Configuration Tool using Import Management

The Layout Preferences for Visualization Configuration Data feature allows organizations to centrally manage and migrate user specific visualization layout settings using Import Management. These layout preferences control how visualizations are rendered for Sales Users, including default configurations associated with a user and a specific visualization reference.

By importing layout preference records, administrators can efficiently create, update, or remove visualization layout settings in bulk, rather than configuring them manually through the user interface. This is especially useful for environment migrations, user onboarding, standardization of visualization experiences, and large scale updates across users or visualizations.

Imported layout preferences are associated with a specific user and reference number and are applied when the Sales User accesses the corresponding visualization. The import process supports full lifecycle management of these preferences and ensures consistency across environments while honoring uniqueness and validation rules enforced by the application.

You can use the Import Management to create, update, or delete Layout Preferences for the Visualization Configuration Data records.

To import Layout Preferences for the Visualization Configuration Data records follow these steps:

  1. Map your source Layout Preferences for the Visualization Configuration Data data to Oracle Applications Cloud object attributes. This way the import process would know where to load each of the information bits.
  2. Create the source CSV file with the Layout Preferences for the Visualization Configuration Data you want to import.
  3. Create an import activity.
  4. Review the import results to know if the import went well.

How You Map Your Source Data to Target Object Attributes

To import your Layout Preferences for the Visualization Configuration Data data into Oracle Applications Cloud, you must populate a .csv file with your source data and map that source data to target object attributes in Oracle Applications Cloud.

You must do the following before creating the .csv file for data import:

  • Identify how your source data attributes map to the target object attributes in Oracle Applications Cloud.
  • Ensure prerequisite steps are complete, such as understanding what attributes are required for importing your objects.
  • Understand your options for uniquely identifying the records.
  • Ensure parent records exist before importing child records.
  • Identify the target object attributes that are required in the .csv file for a successful import.
Note:

You must do some basic checks before starting your import or export. For example, make sure that:

  • You have completed all the prerequisites for importing each attribute in your source data.
  • You have all parent records in place before importing child records.
  • Make sure the unique identifiers are present in the CSV file.
  • While exporting, make sure Enable Round Trip checkbox is enabled for automatic mapping.
  • Make sure you import the Layout Preference Data with the Visualization Configuration data, to avoid data loss or blank configurations.
  • While exporting, if you see ChartConfigMetadata and ChartConfigMetadata in Available fields, make sure that they are added to the Selected Fields, to ensure a successful import.
