How can I get a list of all products and product groups?

You can get a list of all products and product groups in your sales catalog by creating an analysis in the Sales - CRM Opportunities and Products Real Time subject area.

Here's how to create a list of products and the product groups they're in:

  1. Open the Reports and Analytics work area (Navigator > Tools > Reports and Analytics).
  2. Click Browse Catalog.
  3. Click Create > Analysis on the menu bar.
  4. In the Select Subject Area window, search for and select Sales - CRM Opportunities and Products Real Time.
  5. Open the Product folder. In this subject area, the attributes in the Products folder cover both Products and Product Groups. Product Groups and Products are differentiated by the value of the Product Group Flag attribute.
  6. Move the following attributes to the Selected Columns list:
    • Product Name

Displays both product names and product group names depending on the value of the filter Product Group Flag you add in step 8. In this example, we're creating a report on products, so the value of this filter is N.

    • All the sales catalog hierarchy name fields from 1 to 8. These provide the structure of the products and product groups in your catalog, starting with 1 at the bottom of the hierarchy:
      1. Sales Catalog Hierarchy 1 Name
      2. Sales Catalog Hierarchy 2 Name
      3. Sales Catalog Hierarchy 3 Name
      4. Sales Catalog Hierarchy 4 Name
      5. Sales Catalog Hierarchy 5 Name
      6. Sales Catalog Hierarchy 6 Name
      7. Sales Catalog Hierarchy 7 Name
      8. Sales Catalog Hierarchy 8 Name
    • Sales Catalog Hierarchy Top Level Name

The name of the root node, the top product group, in the sales catalog.

  7. In the Filters section, click Create a filter for the current subject area (filter) icon and click More Columns.
  8. In the Select Column dialog box, open the Product folder, select Product Group Flag, and click OK.
  9. In the New Filter dialog, select the is equal to/is in operator.
  10. In the Value field, select the N option as you're displaying a list of products.
  11. Save your report.
  12. On the Results tab, you can review the list of products and the product groups they're in.

If a product belongs to a product group higher in the hierarchy, its product name is repeated in a row. For example, the following table shows the partial row in the report for the 100kW Natural Gas Engine product. The product name is repeated in the level 1 and level 2 names because the product is a member of the Natural Gas Engines product group at level 3. The Natural Gas Engines product group (in level 3) is nested in the Engines product group (level 4).
