How do I remove an extra Comments field from displaying in Advanced Search for my Opportunity?

If you've added a custom Comments searchable field via Application Composer to an opportunity, then two Comments fields get displayed on the Advanced Search page when you try searching for your opportunities. This happens because the ready to use Opportunity Contacts object comments field has the Searchable checkbox already enabled.

The searchable checkbox, if enabled, indicate if you want this field to be made available for selection as an additional search criterion from the Add Fields choice list in the Advanced Search mode.

If you decide that you want only your custom Comments field to display for your opportunity, then you can remove the extra predefined comments field from displaying in the Advanced Search page by deselecting the Searchable checkbox as follows:
  1. Navigate to Application Composer from the Configuration category in the Navigator.

  2. Expand the Opportunity > Opportunity / Contact object.
  3. Click Fields and then click the Standard tab.
  4. Edit the Comments field and in the Constraints section deselect the Searchable checkbox.
  5. Click Save and Close.
