When a sales VP or another manager leaves, how do I make territories and quotas reflect the new resource hierarchy?

If salespeople in your organization own and forecast their own opportunities (forecast by opportunity owner), then you can easily make the territory structure and quotas reflect changes at the top of the resource hierarchy by running a couple of scheduled processes.

You run the two processes from the Scheduled Process work area in the following order:

  1. To update the territory hierarchy with the resource hierarchy changes, run the scheduled process Refresh Territories from Resources. No parameters are required.
  2. To make the quota plan reflect the changes, run the Synchronize Quotas process after the Refresh Territories from Resources process has completed. Select the sales quota plan you want to update as a parameter.

Steps to Run the Processes

  1. Click Navigator > Tools > Scheduled Processes.

  2. Click Schedule New Process.

  3. For Type, select the Job option.

  4. In the Name field list, click Search.

  5. Search for each process by name.

  6. Select the process and click OK.

  7. When running the Synchronized Quotas process, in the Parameters region of the Process Details page, select the sales quota plan.

  8. Click Submit.
