What do I do when I get an error when running the Refresh Territories from Resources process?

If you receive the error "FND_CMN_SYS_ERR: An error occurred. Contact your help desk." when you run the Refresh Territories from Resources process, check that you've enabled a sales territory dimension. You must enable at least one territory dimension, even if you're not using any dimensions for assignment. Both the process and this one-time required setup apply to resource-centric territories, where each opportunity owner also owns their own territory. These are sales territories that you set up by enabling the Forecast by Opportunity Owner option in Setup Assistant or by using the Quick setup in the Forecasting functional area in Setup and Maintenance.

Here's how to enable a dimension. This is a one-time setup.

  1. Open the task Enable Dimensions and Metrics from the Setup and Maintenance work area:

    • Offering: Sales

    • Functional Area: Territories

    • Task: Enable Dimensions and Metrics

  2. On the Enable Dimensions and Metrics page, click Edit.

  3. In the Dimensions region, click Select and Add.

  4. Select Account Type and click OK.

  5. From the Actions menu at the page level, select Load and Activate.

    Your selection runs a process that loads the required data.

You can select Refresh Status from the Actions menu at the page level to monitor the process progress. When the process completes successfully, you're done.
