Enable Custom Dynamic Choice Lists (DCL) for Resource Object on Adaptive Search

You can view, search, and add filters on all dynamic choice list fields for the Resource object using Adaptive Search. You must first create a user-defined profile option, set its value to Y (Yes), and specify the Site profile level.

A dynamic choice list is a field that contains a list of values which are populated from the actual data of another object. You can select filter dynamic choice lists by using saved searches as filter criteria to return a set of search records that best suits your requirements.

Here are the steps to create the ENABLE_CUSTOM_RESOURCE_DCL_IN_ADAPTIVESEARCH user-defined profile option.

  1. Navigate to the Setup and Maintenance work area. Click the Tasks side panel icon and then click the Search link.
  2. Search for and select the Manage Profile Options task.
  3. Create a new profile option, using these details:
    • Profile Option Code: ZCA_ENABLE_CUSTOM_RESOURCE_DCL_IN_ADAPTIVESEARCH
    • Profile Display Name: ENABLE_CUSTOM_RESOURCE_DCL_IN_ADAPTIVESEARCH (alternatively, provide a name of your choice)
    • Application: Common Search
    • Module: Search
    • Start Date: Enter today’s date
  4. Click Save and Close.
  5. In the Profile Values section, for the Site level, check the Enabled and Updatable check boxes.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Next, you need to set the values for the profile option. Search for and select the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
  8. Search for the ZCA_ENABLE_CUSTOM_RESOURCE_DCL_IN_ADAPTIVESEARCH profile option you have just created.
  9. In the Profile Values section, navigate to the Site profile level, and enter the Profile Value as Y.
  10. Sign out and sign back in again.

Next, navigate to the Adaptive Search configuration and the Resource DCL should show up as a field in your list. You must click Publish to run the process after you make changes to your configuration and make Resource DCL available for searching.
