Here are the details for Active Student Step 2: Review/Accept your Financial Aid Awards.

Fund Acceptance Messages

  • When a student has Financial Aid awards, a single message is displayed regardless of the number of awards that require acceptance. The message is this form: “Review/Accept Awards”, and is a hyperlink to the Fund Acceptance Wizard.

  • If an award has a Fund Acceptance Status of Pending Acceptance or Pending Additional Acceptance, the message displays a Pending status. Once electronically signed using the Fund Acceptance Wizard, the message displays a Completed status.

  • If the student is only awarded funds that don’t require acceptance, for example, Federal Pell Grants, the message isn’t displayed.

  • The Fund Acceptance Status comes from the Award Information web service based on the student's External Student ID and is displayed for the appropriate Academic Year. Fund acceptance is configurable per fund type in the Fund Priority Configuration Workbook.

  • For students awarded using a term-based Academic Model, you can configure the application so that the fund acceptance workflow is to accept awards for the whole Academic Year or by Term. See Manage Self-Service System Settings Configuration.
Note: In order for the Fund Acceptance notification to be enabled, any related Quality Control (QC) Holds for the award must be released in the Admin (SFP) system.
Note: If there are no Financial Aid award notifications, a message is displayed in this form: “There are no pending awards that require review.”

Accepting PLUS and Graduate PLUS Loans

  • You can configure the system to allow Self-Service Users to accept PLUS and Graduate PLUS Loans in the Fund Acceptance flow from the Self-Service Home page. This requires:
    • Selecting Enable PLUS in Fund Acceptance workflow and Enable GPLUS in Fund Acceptance workflow in Manage Self-Service System Settings Configuration, as appropriate. You must have the Access Enable PLUS in Fund Acceptance workflow setting and Access Enable GPLUS in Fund Acceptance workflow setting Self Service Permissions set up in Manage Role Permissions to set these configurations.

    • The user to have the Accept Parent Fund Awards and Accept GPLUS Awards Self-Service Permissions set up in Manage Role Permissions.

  • Alternatively, the user can more directly accept PLUS and GPLUS loans using the Financial tab instead of using the Fund Acceptance flow from the Home page. The user must still have Self-Service Permissions of Accept Parent Fund Awards and Accept GPLUS Awards, as appropriate, as set up in Manage Role Permissions.

Authorization to Hold Election Message

  • This message is populated on the Home page for active students based on the Award and Authorization to Hold web service message. When a student has Financial Aid Awards in an Awarded status and all associated QC Holds are in a Released status, the Authorization to Hold Election message is displayed. The message is in this form: “Select your Authorization to Hold Elections.”, and is a hyperlink to the Authorization to Hold Elections form. If the Authorization to Hold Election hasn’t been received, the message displays Pending status.

  • If the Authorization to Hold election has been received, the message displays a Completed status. Authorization to Hold notifications are not Award Year or Academic Year specific, so the notification may be displayed for multiple academic years.

Note: This message is enabled using the Settings page in the Student Self-Service UI by a user with an Admin role.
