Service Indicators

Create service indicators to provide additional services or restrict access to certain services at your institution for a person. Service indicators consist of one or more service impacts that identify the types of specific services that are restricted or provided.

In the Setup and Maintenance work area, use the Manage Administrative Service Indicators task:

  • Offering: Student Management

  • Functional Area: Student Structures

Examples of service indicators can include library fine, late payment, and early enrollment. Each indicator must have one or more reasons. For example, the reason for the library fine indicator could be late return of a book or damaged book.

Default Service Impacts

Associate one or more service impacts with a service indicator. These associated impacts appear as default impacts when you create the indicator reason. You can then select which default impacts you want to associate with the reason.

Service Indicator Reasons

Associate a service indicator reason with one or more service impacts. When you create the indicator reason, add or remove the default impacts to indicate which impacts are associated with the reason. Only impacts associated with the indicator are available for selection. For example, suppose for Late Payment indicator, you have two impacts, Hold Transcript and Hold Enrollment. When you create a reason called Late Tuition, associate it with either Hold Transcript or Hold Enrollment, or both. When a user assigns a service indicator to a person and selects a reason, the impacts that go into effect depend on which reason is selected.

Default Service Indicator Reason

You can assign one reason as default. When a user assigns the service indicator to a person, this reason is automatically selected for the indicator. At that time, the user can change the default reason to some other reason.

Show to Recipient

A recipient is the person to whom you assign the service indicator. You can select whether the recipient can view the service indicator, the associated service impacts, or both the indicator and the associated impacts. The recipient views all this information on the self-service page.

Instruction to Recipient

For an indicator reason, you can add an instruction that a recipient can view on the self-service page. For example, the instruction can explain why an indicator has been assigned and the action that a recipient can take.

Active Service indicators

You can't inactivate a service indicator that's assigned to a person.

Rapid Implementation

You can also create service indicators and impacts using the Rapid Implementation process. Use the Create Administrative Service Indicators and Impacts in Spreadsheet task and the Upload Administrative Service Indicators and Impacts in Spreadsheet task in the Setup and Maintenance work area, Student Management offering.
