Manual Charge Schedule

Manual Charge Schedule enables you to add modified bill lines for specific charges to selected billing periods within a draft subscription, independent of the standard recurring billing cycle. Unlike automated recurring charges that follow predefined rules, this capability lets you to define charge amounts manually for individual billing periods based on business needs, contractual agreements, or special scenarios.

A new attribute, Bill Generation Method, is available at the subscription product and charge level. Using this attribute, you can choose whether bill lines for a charge are generated automatically by the application or entered manually.

After selecting a subscription charge, you can choose one or more billing periods within the subscription start and end dates and manually enter the charge amount for each selected period. These manually scheduled charges appear on the customer invoice along with any automatically generated recurring charges for those billing periods.

Define Manual Billing for Charges

Using Bill Generation Method, you can control how bill lines are created for a charge. After selecting a subscription charge, you can choose billing periods within the subscription duration and enter the charge amount for each selected period. This lets you to define billing schedules that don’t follow the standard recurring pattern.

Manual bill lines are displayed together with recurring charges on the invoice for the corresponding billing periods. You can add bill lines manually by selecting the appropriate subscription and then clicking Add Custom Bill Line.

    You can manage subscription contracts that include planned price changes across multiple years without requiring complex automation.

  • Supports trial-to-paid conversions with onboarding fees

    You can define billing for onboarding fees or other charges when a subscription transitions from trial to paid.

Note:
  • Manual bill lines can be added only for one-time charges and recurring charges.

  • When a subscription is closed or amended, credit isn’t calculated automatically based on proration because the bill line amount is manually entered. You must enter the credit amount manually.
