Support Multiple Assets from Order Management
You can now create, amend, renew, and close subscriptions with multiple covered assets when processing orders from Fusion Order Management (FOM). This capability lets you manage coverage services for several assets within a single sales order instead of processing each asset individually
When working with coverage services in Fusion Order Management, you can perform the following actions and create or update subscriptions in Subscription Management:
-
Enter multiple covered assets when creating a coverage service.
-
Enter multiple covered assets when renewing a coverage service.
-
Enter multiple covered assets when amending a coverage service.
-
Enter multiple covered assets when closing a coverage service.
-
Amend more than one subscription product in a single sales order line.
-
Renew more than one subscription product in a single sales order line.
Process Multiple Assets in a Single Transaction
By supporting multiple covered assets in a single sales order line, you can perform subscription lifecycle actions for several assets simultaneously. This reduces the need to create, amend, or renew separate records for each asset individually.
This capability provides several operational benefits:
-
Operational efficiency
Customers managing large numbers of assets can process coverage services for many assets in a single transaction instead of repeating the same operation multiple times.
-
Reduced error rate
Processing assets together reduces the risk of missed assets, duplicate entries, or inconsistent coverage terms.
-
Faster time-to-revenue
Renewals and new coverage services can be processed more quickly, helping reduce the gap between order placement and revenue recognition.
-
Improved customer experience
Enterprise customers often manage large numbers of assets. Handling them in a single transaction reduces administrative effort.
-
Scalability
As the number of covered assets grows, subscription operations can continue without increasing manual processing effort.
-
Contract flexibility at scale
Multiple subscription products can be amended within a single order line, reducing the number of order lines required to represent contract changes.
-
Lower administrative cost
Sales operations and billing teams spend less time creating and managing individual amendment orders.
-
Faster amendment cycles
When contract changes affect multiple products, they can be processed together in one transaction.
-
Accurate revenue reporting
Grouping related amendments in a single order line ensures revenue adjustments are calculated together.
-
Simplified renewal management
Multiple products within a subscription relationship can be renewed together.
-
Higher renewal rates
Simplifying the renewal process makes it easier for customers with complex subscriptions to renew.
-
Bundle and upsell opportunities
Processing multi product renewals together allows sales teams to introduce bundle pricing or more products.
-
Improved forecasting
Consolidated renewals provide cleaner data for forecasting recurring revenue metrics.
Amendment and Closure Behavior
When you amend or close subscriptions that include covered assets, the system applies specific behaviors depending on the assets referenced in the sales order.
-
If all covered assets are referenced during a close operation, the coverage is closed.
-
If only specific assets are referenced during close, only those covered assets are closed.
-
If assets are closed over time and no active covered assets remain after the final close, the coverage is also closed.
-
If a covered asset that's already closed is passed again for closure, the transaction is flagged as an error and no action is performed.
-
If the asset passed in the sales order isn’t covered under the coverage service, the close operation isn’t performed and the transaction is marked as an error.
-
If no asset references are provided when closing, the coverage line and all covered levels are closed.
-
If both valid and invalid asset references are included when closing a subscription, only valid covered assets are closed and the transaction is marked with a warning.
Amendment Behavior
During amendment processing, the following behavior applies:
-
If no asset references are provided during amendment, the existing coverage line is closed and a new coverage line is created based on the sales order line.
-
As part of amendment, you can convert a covered asset to a covered product after amendment or convert a covered product to a covered asset.
-
If the sales order line references only some covered assets, only those referenced assets are closed in the source subscription.
-
If the sales order line references some existing assets and includes new assets, the referenced assets are closed and a new subscription with coverage services is created for the new assets.
-
If the sales order line references assets that are already closed and also includes new assets, a new subscription is created only for the new assets and a warning is issued indicating that the referenced subscription wasn’t amended.
-
If an amendment is requested with Draft status, any newly created coverage line is created in Draft status and the other subscription product lines remain in Under Amendment status.
Renewal Behavior
When you renew subscriptions that include covered assets, the following behavior applies:
-
As part of renewal, you can convert a covered asset into a covered product after renewal and vice versa.
-
If the sales order line references only some covered assets, only those referenced assets are renewed.
-
If the sales order line references some assets and includes new assets, the referenced assets are renewed, and a new subscription is created for the new assets.
-
If the sales order line references assets that are already closed and includes new assets, a new subscription is created only for the new assets, and a warning indicates that the referenced subscription wasn’t renewed.
-
If automatically renewed subscriptions exist in Draft status, they're canceled when the subscription is renewed partially or completely from Fusion Order Management.
