Manage Exceptions Using the Mobile Application

As a production supervisor, you can use the mobile application to review and manage production exceptions of a work order. Depending on how you modify the settings of the mobile application to view metrics at the plant level or work area level, you can see the relevant exceptions.

After you have reviewed the work order exceptions, you can close the exception or close one or more work order operations linked to the exception. You can also send exception details through email to other stakeholders to collaborate on them.

An exception can be of the following types:

  • Component

  • Resource

  • Work Area

  • Work Center

  • Miscellaneous

Note: Some work area, work center, or miscellaneous exceptions aren't specifically tied to any particular work order operation. Such exceptions aren't accounted for in the mobile application.

Follow these steps to close an exception against a work order operation:

  1. Click the infotile Open Exceptions on the Overview page of the application. You are directed to the Work Order List page which displays a list of work orders. Work orders may have a warning icon displayed beside them in the following cases:

    • If the work order is on hold

    • If the work order has open exceptions

    • If the work order has one or more operations past due

  2. Click any of the work orders. You are directed to the Work Order Details page. The Exceptions tab shows the number of all open exceptions linked to any operation of the work order.

  3. Click the Exceptions tab. You are directed to the Work Order Exceptions List page. This shows a list of all open exceptions. Each exception has the following details mentioned:

    • Exception type

    • Exception description

    • Name of the person who has reported the exception

    • Severity of the exception.

    • Operation sequence to which the exception is associated.

    • Date on which the exception was reported.

If you swipe left on any of the exceptions in Open status here, you can use the Quick Action to close the exception. If the exception is linked to more than one work order operation, you're directed to the Impacted Work Order Operations page. If the exception is linked to only one operation, the status will be changed to Closed after you receive a warning notifying the change in status of the exception.

  4. Select any of the exceptions. You are directed to the Exceptions Details page. Click the Actions icon on the header of the page.

  5. Two actions are available for your selection. Click the Email icon to send the exception details to other stakeholders. Click the Close icon to close the exception. You are directed to the Impacted Work Order Operations page. If the exception is linked to more than one work order operation, all of them are displayed here.

  6. Click the Select All button to select all the impacted work order operations. If not, select them individually and click Close at the header of the page. You get a confirmation message after the exception is successfully closed.

Another way to close exceptions is from the Operation Details page. Whenever you drill down to an operation from the Operation List page, it displays a row Exception which shows the number of open exceptions associated with that operation. If you click that row, you're directed to the Exceptions List page and you can follow the steps as mentioned in this topic.
