Considerations for Using Kit Items for Transfer Orders

Before using kit items on transfer orders, consider these items:

• Consider the primary item structure for the kit item defined in the Product Information work area. This impacts the type and quantity of component items shipped. All kit components and their calculated requested quantities must be defined. This item structure is used to explode the kit item into transfer order lines and shippable components at the time of transfer order creation.
• Consider the Shipment Set Behavior shipping parameter which impacts how the component shipment lines react when anything less than the requested quantity is shipped for the component item on the transfer order.
• The ability to use kit items on transfer orders is achieved by defining a kit item in the Product Information Management work area with the required Inventory, Sales and Order Management, and Manufacturing item attribute settings. You must also set the Shipment Set Behavior shipping parameter to a value that fits your business need.
