Set Up Recall Parameters

You must define recall parameters to manage the recall notices.

This table lists the parameters and their details:

Parameter

Details

Recall Notice Document Sequence

Specify the starting number of the document sequence. This setting is used to automatically generate an internal recall notice number for each business unit.

You can also specify separate prefix for the recall notice numbers in each business unit.

Note: While defining this parameter, only business units for which the materials management function is enabled are listed.Material Management function for a business unit can be enabled while setting up the Organization Structure from the Setup and Maintenance using the Assign Business Unit Business Function task.

Item Validation Organization

Specify item validation organization for each business unit. When you enter the manufacturer part number in the recall notice, the application automatically derives:

  • the internal item from the trading partner item relationship defined in the item validation organization.

  • the purchasing category for the item based on the category assigned in the item validation organization.

Note: While defining this parameter, only business units for which the materials management function is enabled are listed.

Product Traceability Grouping

Define this parameter for an inventory organization.

Note: While defining this parameter, the project inventory-enabled organizations aren't listed.

This parameter indicates the level at which the tasks assigned to the recall lines are grouped and the notifications are sent. That implies that you can define traceability grouping either by inventory organization, location, or subinventory.

For example, if you define each department as a location, and the traceability grouping parameter is set as location, then:

  • recalled parts traced in different subinventories of that location are grouped together

  • a common count task gets assigned for that location

  • a notification for the count task is sent to the user responsible for that location

Similarly, if you define each department as a subinventory, and the traceability grouping parameter is set as subinventory, then

  • recalled parts traced in different stock locators of that subinventory are grouped together

  • a common count task is assigned for that subinventory

  • a notification for the count task is sent to the user responsible for that subinventory

Recall Sub-inventory and Stock locator

Define this parameter for an inventory organization.

Note: While defining this parameter, the project inventory-enabled organizations aren't listed.

You must define a recall subinventory for an inventory organization, as once the recalled parts are located and counted, they're moved to the recall subinventory for quarantine.

If the subinventory is locator controlled, then you must also specify the default recall stock locator.

The recall subinventory must be a non-reservable and quantity tracked subinventory.

To set up a recall parameter:

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the following:

    • Offering: Product Management

    • Functional Area: Product Recall Management

    • Task: Manage Recall parameters

  2. Specify the recall parameters.
