Set Profile Values

Each profile option contains specific values that determine how it affects the application. You can add or modify the values for each profile option.

To configure profile values, use the Manage Administrator Profile Values task in the Setup and Maintenance work area and use the search criteria such as profile display name.

You can select or enter the value for one or more of the available levels (site, product, and user) so that each setting takes effect at the intended level.

Configure Application Logging

You can use the profile values for the enabled profile options to control error logging in the application. Here's the profile display name for application logging.

Set Profile Values for Change Orders

Here are the profile display names for change orders.

Minimum Time Between Effective Dates of Change Orders for an Item

Enables you to define the minimum time gap in minutes between two parallel changes for an item. Before update 2OD, a fixed time gap of 30 minutes restricted parallel processes to prevent locks. Depending on the complexity of changes to implement and the overall performance of your application, you can set the appropriate value for the profile option.

Additionally, the application considers only item changes for master organizations as a parallel process, not that of child organizations. In rare cases where the application still runs into a lock scenario, the change order isn't automatically demoted but remains in its current state, and you can try to promote it manually later.

Size of the publication payload file in megabytes

Enables you to define the maximum size of the Zip files that are generated when you download item attachments or change order attachments. If the exported data is larger than what can be contained in a single Zip file, the process creates multiple Zip files.

The maximum limit is 500 MB.

After downloading the set of Zip files, make sure that all the Zip files are extracted into the same root folder, and that the directory structure is created completely with all files available in their respective folders.

Wait Time for Enabling Workflow Termination

The Terminate Workflow button can be enabled when the change order is stuck on clicking Approve, or due to server issues. It's enabled after the number of minutes specified in profile value is lapsed.

The minimum profile value is 30 minutes.

Configure Flexfields

Here are the profile display names for extended flexfields.

Default Display Mode for Item Extensible Flexfield Attributes

Enables you to define the display of extended flexfield attribute groups when you open the item page in Product Development. You can choose whether the attribute groups should be shown expanded or collapsed by default. If you keep attribute groups collapsed by default, the page loads faster.

You can configure the display with the following values:

  • Expand All: Expand all attribute groups.

  • Expand All Groups with Required Attributes: Expand multi-row attribute groups and single row attribute groups that have at least one required attribute.

  • Expand Single-Row Groups with Required Attributes: Expand only single row attribute groups that have at least one required attribute.

  • Collapse All: Collapse all attribute groups.

Adjust the Search Delay for Autosuggest Search

You can use the profile values for the enabled profile options to adjust the search delay for autosuggest search.

Here's the profile display name to adjust the search delay for autosuggest search.

If this option is enabled, then you can adjust the search delay (in seconds) for autosuggest search. The valid profile values are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, where the value 1 is the standard time to start searching and is the default profile value. To increase the search delay, increase the value.

The profile can be enabled and updated only at the site level.

Item Batch Options in Smart Spreadsheets

You can use the profile values for the enabled profile options to control the item batch options in the smart spreadsheets.

If this option is enabled, then you can set the change order and new item request options in the smart spreadsheet before uploading the item data from the smart spreadsheet to the item batch.

You can set the profile option at the site level or user level. If the user-level value is set for the profile option, then the user-level value has higher precedence over the site-level value.

This profile option is set to No by default.

Allow Multiple Item Relationships to Same GTIN

You can use the profile values for the enabled profile options to create item relationships by associating the same GTIN with more than one item.

If this option is enabled, then you can create item relationships by associating the same GTIN with more than one item when the GTIN UOM and the item's primary UOM are the same.

You can set the profile option at the site level or user level. If the user-level value is set for the profile option, then the user-level value has higher precedence over the site-level value.

You must exercise caution before setting the profile value to No from Yes. You must check if any GTIN is associated to more than one item and take the necessary action.

Configure User Display Format

You can configure how users appear on the interface by choosing a user display format. Here's the profile display name:

Specifies how users are displayed on the user interface.

You can select your preferred display format. The options are:
  • User Name - Example: Jane.Doe
  • Email - Example: jdoe@abc.com
  • Name - Example: Jane Doe
    Note: The Name format is derived from the Display Name setting configured using the Manage Person Name Formats task in the Setup and Maintenance work area.

The default format for user display is applied on all pages and tabs, except the Attachments tab. The Attachments tab always displays users in the User Name format. If you haven't configured Email, First Name, and Last Name, then the User Name is displayed.

Configure Display Format for Manufacturers

You can select the display format of the manufacturer pages.

Set the profile value as Yes to enable launching of new pages from manufacturer-related task links in the Tasks panel, and to enable display of extensible flexfields for manufacturers.

Note: This new page is also available through the AML tab of the item or the change order.

Configure Substitute Component Search and Substitute Component Display in OTBI Report

You can configure whether the item where used report in the UI must include substitute component details by default, and the display of substitute component attributes in OTBI report.

Include Substitutes in Item Where Used Data Specify whether the option to search for substitute components in the item where used report is enabled by default. Enabling this also enables the display of substitute component attributes in the OTBI report.

Note that the where used report is supported only for first level of the structure in the UI and all levels in the OTBI report.

Manage Item Revision Attachments in the Product Information Management Work Area

You can manage the item revision attachments on engineered items that are in post design lifecycle phase using the following profile option that controls whether the attachments can be created, edited, and deleted for these items.

Value determines whether the item revision attachment changes are allowed in the Product Information Management work area, FBDI import, import maps, and Items Version 2 REST resources. The profile values are:

  • Yes: Allows you to create, edit, and delete attachments for the item.
  • No: Doesn't allow you to create, edit, and delete attachments for the item.
Note: Item revision attachment changes can't be routed through commercial change order or engineering change order.

Configure Structures

You can configure users to view common structures depending on the organization context.
