Configure Planning Cycle Stages

Sales and Operations Planning provides five preconfigured review stages in a planning cycle: Product Review, Demand Review, Supply Review, Financial Review, and Executive Review.

You can change the review stage names to better align with your organization's planning processes. For example, you can rename Demand Review to Demand and Supply Balancing. You can also choose to not display a review stage tab in your planning cycle. Use the Configure Planning Cycle Stages dialog box to rename or hide a review stage, which you navigate to from the Manage Planning Cycles page.

In Manage Planning Cycles, you create a planning cycle by using an existing planning cycle as a template. When you copy a planning cycle, changes that you made to the planning cycle stage names and your choices to display stage names or not are copied over to the new planning cycle.

Note: You can only have up to five review stages in a planning cycle, and you must display at least one stage. Also, the planning cycle stage name must be unique; the name can't already exist in the planning cycle.

Use the following steps to rename your review stages or to hide a stage for the planning cycle:

  1. Open the Configure Planning Cycle Stages dialog box:

    1. From the Sales and Operations Planning work area, click the Tasks drawer and then click Manage Planning Cycles.

    2. On the Manage Planning Cycles page, search for and select your planning cycle.

    3. When the planning cycle opens, click Actions and then select Configure Stages.

The Configure Planning Cycles Stages dialog box opens.

  2. In the Stage Name Override column, enter a new name to use instead of the predefined review stage name.

The planning cycle stage name that you enter must be unique. The name cannot already exist in the planning cycle.

  3. In the Enabled column, select Yes to display the tab or No to hide the tab for that stage on the user interface.

You must have at least one planning cycle review stage set to Yes.

  4. When done, click Save and Close.

Your changes appear on the Manage Planning Cycles page. If you use this planning cycle as a template for a new planning cycle, your changes carry over to the new planning cycle.

Note: If you're working in an open planning cycle, you must close the planning cycle and then reopen it to see your changes.
