By using the functionality for end item substitution and supersession along with the functionality for inventory rebalancing, you can achieve the following while doing replenishment planning for a primary item at a location:

• Use the excess of a substitute or supersession item at the location before transferring the excess inventory for the primary item from other locations within a cluster.
• Use the excess of the substitute or supersession item available at other locations in the cluster so long as the item relationships are recognized.
• Minimize procurement and transportation costs and obsolescence within your supply chain.
