Create Supply for Transfer Orders
Automatically create supply in response to a request for a transfer order.
You can use a reservation to match supply to the transfer order. Oracle Global Order Promising determines the supply source to use for the transfer, such as a work order in manufacturing, a purchase order, or a transfer order from a different warehouse.
For example:
-
Create a routing rule that routes the transfer to Oracle Order Management.
For details, see Set Up Rules That Create Supply Orders.
-
Create transfer order 218891 with a quantity of 20, then submit it to Oracle Inventory Management.
Here's what happens next:
-
Order Management creates sales order 54735 and sends a supply request to Oracle Supply Chain Orchestration.
-
Supply Chain Orchestration communicates with Global Order Promising.
-
Global Order Promising applies rules that result in a Make request.
-
The flow sends a request to Oracle Manufacturing to create a work order.
Assume Manufacturing can only create a quantity of 15 at first, so Manufacturing creates that amount and places it in inventory:
-
The shipping manager manually splits the transfer order's shipping line into line A with a quantity 15 that's in Ready to Ship status, and line B with a quantity of 5 that's not yet in stock.
-
Shipping ships line A, then sends the update to Order Management.
-
Order Management splits the fulfillment line into a shipped fulfillment line with a quantity of 15 and another fulfillment line with a status of Awaiting Shipping and a quantity 5.
-
The inventory manager examines the transfer order and decides not to wait for manufacturing to create more supply. Instead, the inventory manager reduces the quantity on the original transfer order to the shipped quantity of 15, then closes the work order.
-
Inventory sends a change request to Order Management to cancel the remaining quantity.
-
Order Management sends an update to Supply Chain Orchestration, and Orchestration sends a request to Manufacturing to close the work order.
Note
-
You can't route a configured item through Order Management because Order Management doesn't accept a configured item as a line item, but you can include a configured item on a transfer that you don't route through Order Management.
-
You can't include a kit on a transfer because Inventory doesn't process kits, but you can include a kit on a sales order in Order Management.

Group Transfer Orders According to Source and Destination
Use this feature to get more flexibility in how you group your transfer orders and improve efficiency. You can specify how you want Oracle Supply Chain Orchestration to group the transfer order requests that it sends to Oracle Inventory Management when it creates each transfer order.
You can use this feature with new transfer supply requests that you create on the Supply Requests page, or that you import through the Supply Requests REST API or through the Import Supply Order file-based data import template. This feature also applies to requests that come from Oracle Supply Planning.
What happens if I. . .
Enable This Feature? | Description |
---|---|
Yes | Supply Chain Orchestration will group transfer requests according to whatever value it receives in the GROUP_CODE attribute. If that value is empty or the attribute is missing, then Supply Chain Orchestration will use SOURCE_DESTINATION. |
No | If Supply Chain Orchestration receives a transfer supply request that contains SOURCE_DESTINATION in the GROUP_CODE attribute, then it will group requests according to the source and destination organizations. |
Try It
- Enable the Group Transfer Orders Using Source and Destination Organizations feature. For details, see Overview of Setting Up Supply Chain Orchestration.
- Go to the Supply Planning work area, then click Tasks > Manage Plans.
- Search for your plan, select it in the search results, then click Actions > Edit Plan Options.
- On the Edit Plan Options dialog, click Supply, and then click Select Advanced Options.
- In the Advanced Options dialog, set the value.
