Overview of Viewing the Audit Trail for Measure Data

This topic provides an overview of how you can view the audit trail for updates to measure data in modules of Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Planning.

When you're in a planning cycle, you might need to view the trail of updates made to measure data in your demand, demand and supply, replenishment, sales and operations, or supply plan. This information is useful for reconstructing the updates made to measure values and establishing individual accountability for updates.

You can view the audit trail for measure data in these ways:

  • For changes made after your software was upgraded to 23D, you can view the audit trail from a cell in a pivot table by using the Audit Trail for Measure Updates dialog box.

The dialog box provides the measure name, name of the plan from which the dialog box is opened, date of the update, update type, name of the plan in which the measure was updated, user who made the update, previous value, new value, selected levels and members for the update, and filtered levels and members for the update.

  • For changes made before and after your software was upgraded to 23D, you can view the audit trail in the Audit Trail of Measure Updates table.

The table provides the measure name, date of the update, user who made the update, previous value, new value, selected levels and members for the update, and filtered levels and members for the update.

Information about the plan and audit type isn't available.

By default, you can view the updates made manually in pivot tables or by importing Microsoft Excel workbooks. You can set profile values for the profile option named SCM_PARAMETER_OVERRIDES to disable the audit trail for updates made through imported workbooks or enable the audit trail for updates made through REST resources.

Note: The dialog box and table display the audit trail for updates you make in workbooks that you import by clicking the Import icon on the toolbar of a pivot table. When you click this icon, the scheduled process named Update Planning Table Data imports the workbooks. The dialog box doesn't display the audit trail for updates you make through file-based data import (FBDI) templates for import through the scheduled process named Load Planning Data from Flat Files.

More Points About Viewing the Audit Trail for Measure Data

Note these points about viewing the audit trail for measure data:

  • The audit trail is available in plans of all planning time levels (hierarchies), including hybrid time hierarchies.
  • While the updates made to an editable measure by all users are available in the audit trail, you require the permission to view the updates made by other users.
  • The audit trail is available for only editable measures of all data types. The measures can be plan-specific or shared. Both predefined and user-defined measures are supported. The measures can be configured as data lookups on the Properties subtab on the Advanced tab in the Create Measure dialog box. The measures can be displayed in pivot tables at the stored or aggregate levels.

The audit trail isn't available for calculated measures. For such measures, there's an expression on the Expression tab in the Create Measure dialog box.

The audit trail isn't available for measures that are updated through the collections process and import templates. For such measures, the Refresh with current data checkbox is selected on the Properties subtab on the Advanced tab in the Create Measure dialog box.

  • For a day-level plan, the value for a shared measure can be viewed in another day-level plan that contains the same measure. Therefore, in this case, the audit trail for the update made in the first plan is available through the second plan.

For a plan with an aggregate time level, the value for a shared measure can't be viewed in another plan with the same measure and the same or a different aggregate time level. Therefore, in this case, the audit trail for the update made in the first plan isn't available through the second plan.

For a day-level plan or plan with an aggregate time level, the audit trail is available for updates made to measures through pivot tables with the same or different levels of data aggregation in the same plan.

  • If you update a cell in a pivot table with the same value as the original value, or if another user updates the cell with the same value as the value that you entered, these updates aren't reflected in the audit trail.
  • When you delete your plan, the audit data is still retained.
  • For existing plans, the Audit Trail for Measure Updates dialog box is available from your pivot tables after you first run your plans following an upgrade of your software to 23D.
