View the Audit Trail for Measure Data from a Cell in a Pivot Table

You can view the audit trail for measure data from a cell in a pivot table for your demand, demand and supply, replenishment, sales and operations, or supply plan.

Points to Note

Note these points about viewing the audit trail for measure data from a cell in a pivot table.

  • The audit trail is displayed in the Audit Trail for Measure Updates dialog box.
  • You can view the audit trail for only one cell in a pivot table at a time.

    Also, you must select a cell to view the audit trail.

    Otherwise, an error message is displayed when you try to view the audit trail.

  • You can view the audit trail for only an editable measure with updates that were made after your software was upgraded to 23D.

    Otherwise, an error message is displayed when you try to view the audit trail.

  • You can view the audit trail for an unassociated cell.
  • You can open the dialog box from a pivot table for configure-to-order (CTO) data.
  • If you update the value for a summary cell in a pivot table, you can view the audit trail for the cell.
  • The pivot table from which the dialog box is opened can have the following:
    • Page filters
    • Levels and members specified on the Members tab in the Selector Tool
    • Measure filters specified on the Measure Filters tab in the Selector Tool
  • By default, the dialog box displays the audit trail for the last 60 days.

    The default selection in the Last Updated Date field is On or after, and the date in the date field is set to 60 days before the current date.

    You can change the duration for the displayed audit trail by creating and using a profile option named MSC_PIVOT_AUDIT_TRAIL_DEFAULT_DATE_FILTER.

  • There might be a time lag between when you update a measure value and when you can view the corresponding row in the dialog box.

    In this case, you might see an error message that no audit trail is available.

  • For updates that were made before and after your software was upgraded to 23D, you can also view the Audit Trail of Measure Updates table.

Information Displayed in the Dialog Box

This table explains how information is displayed in the Audit Trail for Measure Updates dialog box:

  • The row for the update will pertain to the pivot table that was updated.
  • If the other pivot table is at the same level of data aggregation as the pivot table for the cell, then the current value and new value will be the same.
  • If the other pivot table is at a lower or higher level of data aggregation than the pivot table for the cell, then the current value and new value won't be the same.
Day level Shared Another pivot table in another day-level plan
  • The row for the update will pertain to the pivot table that was updated.
  • If the other pivot table is at the same level of data aggregation as the pivot table for the cell, then the current value and new value will be the same.
  • If the other pivot table is at a lower or higher level of data aggregation than the pivot table for the cell, then the current value and new value won't be the same.

This table describes the fields and columns in the Audit Trail for Measure Updates dialog box:

Measure Name Field Name of the measure for which the cell is displaying information
Plan Name Field Name of the plan for a cell in a pivot table from which the dialog box is opened
Current Value Field Value presently displayed in the cell from which the dialog box is opened
Last Updated Date Column Date on which the update was made

This value pertains to the cell in the pivot table where the update was made.

Update Type Column Type of action that resulted in the update

The values can be MANUAL, EXCEL, or REST.

This value pertains to the cell in the pivot table where the update was made.

Plan Name Column Name of the plan in which the update was made

This value pertains to the cell in the pivot table where the update was made.

Updated By Column Name of the user who made the update

This value pertains to the cell in the pivot table where the update was made.

Previous Value Column Previous value for the measure

This value pertains to the cell in the pivot table where the update was made.

New Value Column New value for the measure

This value pertains to the cell in the pivot table where the update was made.

Selected Levels and Members for Update Column Displayed levels and members for the cell in the pivot table where the update was made
Filtered Levels and Members for Update Column Levels and members selected on the Members tab in the Selector Tool for the pivot table where the update was made

If there are no filtered levels and members, the following text is displayed: "No data to display"

  1. In a pivot table for your plan, select the cell for which you want to view the audit trail, and do one of the following:
    • Right-click the cell, and select View Audit Trail.
    • Click Actions > View Audit Trail.

    The Audit Trail for Measure Updates dialog box is displayed.

  2. View the audit trail for the cell.
    • You can't view the measure value in the pivot table and audit trail in the dialog box for a member if you don't have the permission to do so. If you don't have the permission to view the information for a member at a lower or higher level of data aggregation than the member for which you're viewing the audit trail, the values in the Previous Value and New Value columns are masked.

    • To change the period for which the audit trail is displayed, select an operator in the Last Updated Date field, use the date editor to select a date in the date field, and click the Refresh icon.
    • Sort the displayed rows using the Last Updated Date, Update Type, Plan Name, and Updated By columns.
    • If the audit trail has more than 15 rows, go to the remaining pages in the dialog box to view the information.
  3. Click Done to close the dialog box.
    Any changes that you made in the Last Updated Date field and date field won't be saved.
