Automatically Derive Item Identifiers in Recall Notice

The representation of the recalled part identifiers varies from one source to another while communicating the recall. So, it is important to capture those part identifiers and enrich them to get the manufacturer part number, supplier part number or master item number defined in Oracle applications.

The item identifiers defined in Oracle application is further used to trace the materials, generate the containment tasks and complete the disposition process.

Examples of the representation of part identifiers are:
  • Part Number
  • Device Identifier
  • GTIN
  • Model
  • Brand
  • Part Description
To enrich these part identifiers and fetch the Oracle item identifiers in the recall notices that are either captured from Oracle content curation service or created manually, do the following configurations:
  1. Enable the opt-in for the feature Search Items Using the New User Interface.
    • In the Setup and Maintenance work area, select the offering: Product Management.
    • Select the drop down against the functional area: Items.
    • Enable the feature Search Items Using the New User Interface.
  2. Define item relationships with GTIN, if applicable.
  3. Use predefined Healthcare GUDID Primary Extensible Flexfield attributes to define the item identifiers like device identifier, model, brand, and so on in Product Hub application, if applicable.   4. Configure item indexes for the below attributes in Product Hub application:
    • GTIN
    • Primary DI Number
    • Device Version
    • Brand Name
    • Item Description
    • Manufacturer Part Number
    • Supplier Item

  5. Define the item class security for the user or role who manages the recall notices:
    1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the following:
      • Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management
      • Functional Area: Items
      • Task: Manage Item Classes
    2. Select Item class and click the Edit icon.
    3. Click on the Security tab.
    4. Click the Add row action to associate the role group or user with the item master organization.
    5. Click the Select and Add action to add view privileges that include View Item Basic, View Item Attribute and ORA_HC_EFF_VIEW_PRIV.
    6. Save the record.
  6. Schedule the ESS job to create index definition and perform initial ingest to OSCS job with parameter value as fa-prc-pa for the Index Name to Reingest parameter name.
  7. Schedule the ESS job to create index definition and perform initial ingest to OSCS job with parameter value as fa-prc-po for the "Index Name to Reingest parameter name.
