Duplicate Items

You can create a new item by copying an existing item and modifying the specific information to suit your requirements.

You can copy the attributes, structures, organizations, categories, attachments, and trading partner item relationships to the new item.

To create a new item based on an existing item:
  1. In the Product Management area, open the item that you want to use to create a copy.
  2. From the More Actions menu, click Save As.
    Note: The Save As option is available only for the current revision of the item

    The <item name> copy drawer is displayed.

  3. Specify the following details:
    • Item: Enter a unique name for the item
    • Description: Provide a brief description about the item
    • Include: Select the entities you want to copy to the new item. These entities are categorized as:
      • Attributes
      • Structures
      • Others

      Based on the entities you select, the respective tabs are displayed.

    • Apply Templates: Select one or more templates to apply to the new item
    • Select one of the following to determine the order in which the attribute values are copied:
      • Copy Attributes and Then Apply Templates
      • Apply Templates and Then Copy Attributes
    • Attributes: Select the attributes you want to copy to the new item.
    • Structures: Select the structures you want to copy to the new item. You can selectively decide whether to include substitute items and reference designators for the structure. You can select the Creation Option as Copy or Common.
    • Others: Select the child entities you want to copy to the new item:
      • Organizations
      • Categories
      • Item attachments
      • Item revision attachments
      • Manufacturer trading partner item relationships
      • Competitor trading partner item relationships
      • Customer trading partner item relationships
      • Supplier trading partner item relationships
  4. Click Save.

    The item is created.
