Considerations for Succession Plan History

You can view the history of changes made to any succession plan that you can access.

These considerations apply for the history of changes that you view on the Plan History page:

  • The succession plan data of 22B release is the baseline data for tracking the plan changes.
  • Even if a user or multiple users change the same attribute multiple times on the same day, you can see all changes. You see the most recent change first.
  • You can’t see the changes made to descriptive flexfields.
  • You can’t see the history of changes related to inferred incumbents.
  • If the name of the incumbent, candidate, owner, or person who modified the plan changes, you can see only the most recent name on the Plan History page for all historical rows.
  • You can see when newly added candidates were added, but not the candidate attributes that were added initially. But if you make changes to any of the candidate’s attributes later, you can see the changes.
  • If any plan attribute, such as job name, position name, and department changes over time, you can only see the current attribute name in all the historical rows.
  • You can view when a plan was made inactive or active again.
  • You can’t see job changes of plan incumbents and candidates in the plan history. But when a candidate moves to the plan role or a role that’s different from the plan role, you can view this information.
  • If an incumbent, owner, or a candidate is terminated, you can’t see the termination information. But if someone removes the terminated incumbent from the succession plan, you can see this information.
  • If a plan candidate, owner, or the person who made the changes is terminated, you can no longer see their name in the plan history.
  • You can continue to see the changes in information of terminated candidates and owners in the succession plan history.
  • If someone deletes a succession plan, you can no longer view the history for the plan. But the plan’s information is retained in the history records.
