Preparing the Message Specification

The Message Specification is used to identify the sender and receiver for the message, and provides details of the message that is being sent, including the period covered by the information, and the status for the report (original, correction, supplemental data, and so on).

To prepare the message specification:

  1. From the Home page, click CbCR, and then Filing.
  2. Select Message Specification.
    Message Specification screen
  3. Select the POV for the report.
  4. In Sending Entity Identification Number, enter the Sending Entity Identification Number.
  5. Under Transmitting Country, select the name of the country or jurisdiction from which the report is being sent. Only one country may be selected.
  6. Under Receiving Country, select the name of the receiving country or jurisdiction to which the report is being sent. Each jurisdiction in which the entity is resident, as described on the report, should be selected.

    Note:

If you need to enter more than 10 countries, you must update the metadata to accommodate the required number.
  7. Under Message Type, select CBC as the only available type.
  8. Under Language, select the language in which the report has been prepared. The language is determined by the local laws of the sending jurisdiction.
  9. Optional: Under Free text expressing the restrictions for use of the information, enter any free-form warnings or considerations that may apply to clarify circumstances about the report creation or contents.
  10. Under Contact info about persons responsible/involved in the processing of the data, enter the complete contact information for the message sender, in case there are any questions from the regional tax authority concerning the report.
  11. Under Sender's unique identifier for this message, enter the unique ID created by the sender for the report.
  12. Under Type of message sent, select the applicable text from the drop-down list:
    • The message contains new information.
    • The message contains corrections for previously sent information.
  13. Optional: Under Sender's unique identifier that has to be corrected, enter the Correcting Message Reference ID.

    Note:

Because the Document Reference ID is unique in space and time, this element is not used for CbC Reports at the DocSpec level.
  14. Under Reporting Period, enter the last date of the reporting period (for example, the fiscal year). You can enter the date in your locale format, but the date is automatically converted during creation of the XML file to the required date format (YYYY-MM-DD)

    Note:

If the length of the reported period is not a full 12-month period, enter a comment under Warning to explain the reason.
  15. Click Save.
  16. Under Actions, select Business Rules, and then run both of the following business rules:
    • Consolidate_CbCR
    • Translate_CbCR
