Viewing Tasks

Viewing Tasks from the Home Page

When you launch Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud, the Home page displays a summary of tasks assigned to you and their status, such as Open, Late, Due Today, or Due in 7 Days. A number to the left of the status indicates the number of tasks with that status. You can filter the list of tasks by Year and Period. When you click a link in the Tasks summary panel, the Tasks page opens, where you can further filter the list of tasks.

Viewing Tasks from the Schedule Tasks Page

From the Tasks tab, you can search for tasks, filter lists of tasks, and save lists. You can change views to display more columns or rows.

To view tasks on the Task page:

  1. From the Home page, click Tasks.
  2. Click the Schedule Tasks tab on the left.
  3. Use the View selector View Selector icon on the right side of the page to move between views:
  • List View

The List view lists all tasks in a schedule or template. It provides a hierarchical (parent-child) view of tasks. You can filter the list of tasks to display only the ones in which you are interested.

By default, the list is sorted by the Start Date column. You can click a column heading to sort by that column. Parent tasks are indicated by an arrow, which you can click to expand or collapse the display of their children.

  • Gantt View

Displays a timeline for a schedule or template that graphically represents the duration of tasks and the dependencies between them. Bars represent duration, and arrows represent dependencies. You can view the predecessor relationships between tasks, for example, Task A must complete before Task B, and view the status of predecessor tasks. You can also see the parent-child task relationships (aggregations), in the hierarchy, for example, Task A is comprised of two subtasks, Task B and Task C.

You might choose to use the Gantt view when you create a template to see the predecessor relationships between the tasks, or to verify the precedence order after adding tasks to a schedule. You can use the Gantt view to see the status of predecessor tasks to other tasks, and see the status of tasks that are predecessors to other group member tasks.

    Note:

In the Gantt Chart view, viewing a schedule or template with a very large number of tasks may cause the view to cycle a very long time. It is recommended to filter the view down to a smaller number of tasks when reviewing the schedule or template in these views.

You can drag new tasks into the Gantt view and update a task using a double-click or menu option. You can drag a task to a new start date and stretch the task duration. You can filter to flatten the task hierarchy and sort by task status. Tasks that have child tasks are indicated by an arrow, which you can click to expand or collapse the task hierarchies.

  • Group View

Enables you to create summaries of numeric attribute data by attribute value.

  • Compact

Works as a toggle switch that can be turned on or off. The Compact View displays more rows of information when you are in List or Group View.

Viewing Tasks from the Worklist Page

The Worklist shows you the list and status of tasks that are being worked on. From the Worklist, you can search for tasks and filter lists of tasks.

If your administrator has enabled the Upcoming Tasks option, you can also see items in the upcoming workflow, as well as tasks currently available.

Here's some ways you can easily get information about ongoing tasks:

  • You can see a summary of the status by All, Late, Due Today, or Due in 7 days.
  • You can use the Filter bar to filter by attributes such as Name, Type, or Status.

You can then Open tasks on the list by clicking the Actions icon next to the task.

To view tasks from the Tasks page:

  1. From the Home page, click Tasks.
  2. Click the Tasks tab on the left to display the Worklist.
  3. To display only your tasks, click Display My Tasks Display My Tasks icon.

An easy way to access the task that you want is to use the Search field. You can search on any field (text or numeric) on the Worklist, except for Date. For example, you could search on the word "Accounts" to see all tasks that have Accounts in the name such as Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable. You can also use the filtering capability to access particular lists of tasks by clicking the Filter icon next to the Search field and then set the filters you want.

Viewing Tasks from the Task Actions Page

You can view and update tasks from the Task Actions page, which you can launch from a link in your email notification.
