Manually Assign to Existing Shipment

This page is accessed via Order Management > Order Release > Order Release or Order Release with Stops > Actions > Operational Planning >  Create Buy Shipment or Create Sell Shipment > Manually Assign to Existing Shipment.

Use this action to manually move an order release onto an existing shipment. This action does not unassign existing orders from a shipment or change the shipment structure other than adding order ship units to matching shipment stops and equipment. It can be used in situations when you do not want to use the shipment planning results the planning algorithm produced.

You can only use this action if the following conditions exist:

  • The existing shipment must not have related shipments.
  • All order releases must have the same source and destination location.
  • The Source/Destination location on the orders must match the stop locations on the existing shipment in the right order and with the right activity (pick, delivery, etc).
  • The priority must match.

You can enable the following constraints by selecting the appropriate check box:

  • Ignore Compatibility Check: if unmarked, do not check the compatibility on this order with existing shipment.
  • Ignore Time Feasibility Check: if unmarked and service time is infeasible, set shipment infeasible (Service Time Infeasible) and commit to the database.
  • Ignore Equipment Capacity Check: if unmarked and equipment overloaded, set shipment infeasible (Equipment Infeasible) and commit to the database.
  • Ignore Rate Feasibility Check: if unmarked, when rating cannot find valid rate for the consolidated shipment, set shipment infeasible (Rate Infeasible) and commit to the database.

Note: Shipment cost and service time are recalculated for the shipment.

Example

An order has a Source Location: Philadelphia and a Destination Location: Boston

A multi-stop shipment with the following stops exists:

Washington D.C (pickup) ---> Philadelphia (pickup)---->New York City (drop-off)--->Boston (drop-off)

The order ship units are added to the stop: Philadelphia (pickup) and the stop: Boston (drop-off).

However, if the shipment has the following stops activities:

Washington D.C (pickup) ---> Philadelphia (drop-off)---->New York City (drop-off)--->Boston (drop-off)

The order ship units are not added to this shipment because the shipment's Philadelphia stop activity does not support what is required for the order (pickup, not drop-off).
