Stacking Compatability

This page is accessed via Operational Planning > Power Data > Load Configuration > Stacking Compatibility.

Use this page to define stacking compatibility characteristics. The information you supply will always be used when stacking is being considered.

Defining a Stacking Compatibility

  1. Enter a Bottom Packaging Item. This would be an item that should always be placed on the bottom of a pallet.
  2. Enter a Bottom Packaging Unit. This describes how the bottom item is packaged. For example, refrigerators may be in boxes and small boat anchors may be in cases.
  3. Enter a Bottom Transportation Unit. When this material is on a pallet, define which transportation handling unit should be used.
  4. Enter a Bottom Orientation.
  5. Enter a Top Packaging Item. This would be an item that should always be at the top on a pallet. Nothing can be placed above it in a stack.
  6. Enter a Top Packaging Unit. This describes how the top item is packaged. For example, styrofoam peanuts may be in bags and potato chips may be in cases.
  7. Enter a Top Transportation Unit. When this material is on a pallet, define which transportation handling unit should be used.
  8. Enter a Top Orientation.
  9. Select the Stackable option if the items are stackable.

Note: When defining a new stacking compatibility pair ALL the stacking compatibility pairs in a domain must either have the Stackable check box selected or ALL the pairs must have the check box cleared. There should not be a scenario where there are 10 compatibility pairs defined in a domain and 9 of them have the Stackable check box selected and 1 pair has the check box clear. Either all the 10 pairs should have check box selected or all should have check box clear.
If all the defined pairs have the Stackable check box selected, then it implies that all the non-defined pairs are incompatible.
If all the defined pairs have the Stackable check box clear, then it implies that all the non-defined pairs are compatible.
