Constraint Set

This page is accessed via Sourcing > Setup > Constraint Set.

Constraint sets allow you to limit the selection of shipments to be extracted in the bidding process based on equipment group, service provider, transportation mode or any combination of these. Constraint sets may be applied to project and bid round records. For example, the list of service providers that may participate in a bid round is limited to the service provider profile ID that was specified in the constraint set assigned to that bid round record. This is similar for constraints sets that have an assigned equipment group profile and/or mode profile. If different constraint sets are specified on the project and bid round, the constraint set ID on the bid round is used.

Adding a Constraint Set

  1. Enter a Constraint Set ID.
  2. Enter an Equipment Group Profile ID. This limits the pieces of equipment that carriers can use during the bidding process.

Note: In projects and bid rounds for ocean, the equipment group specified on the constraint set must match the equipment group used in the lane summary for the matching lane. If the equipment does not match, then the carrier will see an error when uploading the bid response. This is a result of how Oracle Transportation Sourcing aggregates demand specifically for each equipment group; there is no equipment group conversion factor for ocean.

  3. Enter a Service Provider Profile ID. This limits the service providers/carriers who can upload bids during the bidding process.
  4. Enter a Mode Profile ID. This limits the transport modes that can be used during the bidding process.
  5. Click Finished.
