Sourcing Rule Set

This page is accessed via Sourcing > Setup > Rule Set.

This page gives you the ability to create rules that determine how the solve process builds a solution. Rules are business constraints that the solver must obey before picking the cheapest available bid.

Oracle Transportation Sourcing uses parameters to define/control events at the project level, parameters do not influence lanes or sets of lanes. Use a sourcing rule to set to influence how the solve process builds a solution for lanes or sets of lanes. For example, with rules you can:

  • Award a maximum number of carriers on a group of lanes
  • Award a minimum count of shipments to a carrier on a specific lane
  • Award a maximum percentage of shipments to any carrier in the total solution
  • Award a maximum monetary amount to any one carrier on a group of lanes
  • Award a minimum monetary spend as a percentage to all carriers in the solution
  • Exclude bid packages from certain carriers
  • Favor certain carriers by a percentage or fixed amount
  • Exclude bids based on bid
  • Favor certain bids by a percentage or fixed amount based on bids

Overlapping Rule Sets

You can specify a rule set ID on a scenario, sourcing lane definition, and a rate zone profile. If there is conflict between multiple rules, the most specific rule wins. A sourcing lane definition set rule wins over a scenario rule and a lane rule wins over a rate zone profile rule.
