Approve Bill

This page is accessed via Financials > Billing Management > Billing > Actions > Financials > Bill > Approve Bill.

Approve Bill approves bills for issuance to customers. When you approve a bill, its status changes to BILL_APPROVAL_APPROVED, and then the bill can be issued.

Note: You cannot issue a bill before it has been approved. To issue bills, use the Send Bill Interface action, or create an automation agent that issues bills when they are approved.

Limitation

When a bill is generated using a split rule, you may come across a limitation while approving a bill. For example, assume that there won’t be any duplicate cost lines in the shipment. In this case, you may get unexpected results.

$100

If you generate a bill using the per cost line split rule,OTM generates two bills for the shipment. But when you approve a bill, you may get unexpected results because OTM compares each bill line item with the shipment cost line. Based on the above table, OTM may compare bill cost line item $5000 with the shipment cost line $100. So the tolerance check will fail and subsequently bill approval process fails.

Note: While approving a bill (generated using the split rule) ensure that the tolerance limit is high. For example, the tolerance limit is 10%,  shipment cost is $1000, and bills are generated using the per cost line split rule. In this case, if a bill cost is $100 and you try to approve this bill, the tolerance check fails because the bill cost doesn't fall under the 10% tolerance limit ($900 to 1100). So while approving such bills, provide high tolerance limit.
