Shipment Management
Emission Activities
This page is accessed via Shipment Management > Visibility > Emission Activities.
Emission is a framework that helps you to understand how an organisation manages risk, and opportunities around sustainability issues.
Defining an Emission Activity
- Enter an Activity ID which specifies the identifier for Emission Activity. If you leave this field blank, Oracle Transportation Management automatically assigns a system generated ID.
- Enter an Activity Type ID representing the type of Emission Activity.
- Select the Scope of Emission Activity as '1', '2', or '3. When you select the Activity Type ID, the application automatically updates the field Scope based on the scope defined for Activity Type ID. If you have a different scope while comparing to the scope in Activity Type, then you can select it from the drop-down list.
- Select a Domain Name for the Emission Activity. You may store this Emission activity within your own domain, or any domain you have access to. All available domains appear in the drop-down list.
- Select an Object Type for which business object the Emission Activity is recorded.
- Enter an Object ID of the business object.
- Data Source indicates how the Emission Activity was created: Manual for manually entered Emission Activity, Generated for Emission Activity generated by system, and Integration for Emission Activity imported from other systems.
- Enter Posted On referring to the date on which the activity is recorded.
- Enter a Description indicating the details of the activity.
- Emission Activity Rule and Emission Rule both the fields are read only. These are automatically added by the application during emission activity generation.
- Enter a Source Location ID and Destination Location ID for the activity being recorded.
- Enter an Equipment Type used during the activity.
- Enter an Equipment Group used during the activity.
- Select the Transport Mode which specifies the mode of transport used during the activity.
- Enter the Service Provider Alias of the service provider for which the emission activity is to be captured.
- Enter the Transport Handling Unit which specifies the handling unit of transport used during the activity.
- Enter the Transport Handling Unit Count which specifies the count of transport handling unit used during the activity.
- Enter a Weight. This represents the weight of the shipment carried during the Emission Activity.
- Enter a Volume. This represents the volume of the shipment carried during the Emission Activity.
- Enter a Distance specifying the distance traveled during the Emission Activity.
- The CO2 Emissions and CO2e Emissions of emission activity will be updated accordingly based on the given emission types in the section Emissions.
- CO2 will be populated if the Emission Type under Emissions is selected as CO2.
- CO2e will be populated either by providing CO2e directly or by supplying other emission types, from which CO2e will be calculated based on their equivalent emission values.
- Enter an Accessorial Code which is associated with emission activity.
Note: While rating a shipment, the application will first look for the accessorials configured in the Emission Activity Detail page. If there are no accessorial codes mentioned on the detail page then the accessorial code on the Emission Activity page is considered.
Note: The Posting Type has been removed and no longer holds any functional significance.
Emissions
- Enter the Emission Type.
- Enter the Emission Value.
- Global Warming Potential Factor of the emission type you have selected will be shown for the saved record.
- Emission Value in CO2e will be calculated by multiplying it with the Global Warming Potential Factor and then displayed.
- Click Save.
Note: The emissions from the Activity Details will be aggregated to the Emissions section.
Remarks
Use this section to add as many remarks as you require.
Adding a Remark:
- Select a remark qualifier from the Remark Qualifier ID drop-down list.
- Enter your remarks in the Remark Text field.
- Click Save.
Adding a Note:
- Enter a Note about the emission activity.
Once the emission activity is populated, you can click on the second tab Activity Details.
Note: Emissions can be calculated based on the planning parameter qualifier EMISSION ACTIVITY TYPE. This specifies the emission activity type for which emissions should be calculated, creating the corresponding emission activity. Calculate Emissions is triggered through shipment recalculation, Calculate Emissions agent, or a web action. In addition CACULATE EMISSION parameter is used to calculate the emissions either during the rating process or post rating. The planned, and actual CO2 and CO2e emissions on the shipment are updated based on the CO2 and CO2e emission values on the emission activity.
