3.4.7 Update Monitoring Configuration
Update the CloudWatch Monitoring configuration for a DB System.
During the update, the DB System will be in the UPDATING state until the update is finished.
To update the CloudWatch Monitoring configuration for a DB System follow these steps:
-
In the HeatWave Console, select the Resources tab.
-
On the DB Systems tab, in the list of DB Systems, find the DB System to update, and do one of the following:
-
Click on the row of the DB System to highlight it, and choose Update Monitoring Configuration from the Actions menu.
-
Click the name of the DB System to open the DB System Details page, and from the Actions menu choose Update Monitoring Configuration.
-
- In the Update Monitoring Configuration pane:
- Select Enable CloudWatch Monitoring if you want to use CloudWatch Monitoring to monitor your DB System and HeatWave Cluster, or deselect it if you want to disable the function.
- Provide or update the CloudWatch Monitoring role
ARN to use CloudWatch Monitoring (see Creating an IAM Role and Policy for CloudWatch Monitoring).
Note:
If the user wants to update an existing ARN with a new one, they cannot apply it until they disable the feature as well. - Click the Select Monitoring Configuration button if you want to change the metrics provided by CloudWatch Monitoring.
-
In the Select Monitoring Configuration pane, select under Template one of the following template types, and see the Metrics included for each of them (see also CloudWatch Monitoring Metrics for a list of all the metrics and some details on them):
- Basic: Configuration for basic monitoring. This is the default configuration.
- Detailed: Configuration for detailed monitoring.
- Custom: Customized monitoring configuration. Customize the configuration by selecting the desired metrics.
Click Change to confirm your changes, or click Cancel to stay with the original setting.
- Click Update to apply the configuration to your DB System.
For metrics updates, there might be a brief interval during which no metrics are emitted, as the system adjusts to the new configuration.
For a CloudWatch role ARN update when monitoring is active, it may take up to an hour for the system to assume the new role. During that time, metric emissions to the old role will continue uninterrupted, as long as the old role retains the necessary permissions. However, changes to the permission policy of the CloudWatch role are effective instantaneously.
