Data Editor Settings

This topic provides an overview of the settings to configure Data Editors.

To control how you would view and edit table (or views and materialized views) data in the Data Editor window, from the Main menu of the Oracle® Database Navigator toolbar, select DB Navigator > Settings > Data Editor tab.


Data Editor settings

You can configure the following Data Editor settings:
Setting Options Configurations
General
  • Maximum number of records that is fetched from the database at a time in a given data block for the object you are viewing
  • Maximum time allowed to fetch the block of records from the database before timeout
  • Automatically trim whitespaces for literal content upon editing the data
  • Convert empty strings in the table/views to null values
  • Enable selection of cell content upon editing
  • Enable pop-up to display the entire cell values that do not fit within the column width on hovering over the cell
Filters Filter table contents by a column or by a specific cell value. Enable the default filter type to be one of the following:
  • Basic filter that lets you add conditions (And/Or) to the table columns and create filters
  • Custom filter that lets you create filters with custom SQL queries
Record Navigation Configure the default navigation to jump to either of the following:
  • Record Viewer - directly opens the Record Viewer dialog box to display details of the record
  • Table Editor - directly navigates to the Table editor window
  • Ask - a confirmation message is displayed asking whether you want to navigate to the Record Viewer dialog or to the Table Editor window.
Value List Popup Enable the value list icon for table columns when editing the records. Clicking the icon displays the list of possible values only for those columns for which you configure the following criteria:
  • columns having a certain number of maximum possible values
  • columns having a certain data length; for example, column of data type VARCHAR with maximum data length of 30 characters.
Basic Text Editor
  • Enable displaying the icon to open the text editor for columns to edit the record
  • Enable opening the text editor for table cells that have empty records
  • Configure the maximum character length that you can edit in the text editor that opens for a record
Qualified Text Editor
  • Configure the maximum character length that you can edit in the qualified text editor that opens for a record
  • Configure the type of qualified text editor that enables you to edit certain content type/file formats
