New Features for Oracle Grid Infrastructure 18c
-
gridSetup-based Management
Gold Image-Based installation, using
setup.exe
, provides a centralized mechanism of installing and managing Oracle Grid Infrastructure. You can use gridSetup-based management to perform management tasks such as cloning, addNode operations, deleteNode operations, and downgrade using thegridSetup.bat
command. -
NodeVIP-Less Cluster
NodeVIP-Less Cluster simplifies cluster deployments and management by eliminating the need for additional IPs for each node in the cluster.
Node VIP-Less cluster deployments are intended for use in volatile non-production environments, where ease of deployment outweighs the need for ease of failover management.

Desupported Features for Oracle Clusterware 18c
The following feature is desupported in this release:
- Desupport of crsuser Windows
The
crsuser
utility and and theCRSToken
method to change the Windows service user is desupported in Oracle Database 18c.In Oracle Grid Infrastructure releases before Release 12c (12.1), it was supported to use the
crsuser
utility with Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) to modify the database logon properties of the Oracle Database service fromLocalSystem
to a user ID.Oracle introduced the Oracle Home User system privileges role for the DB home in Oracle Grid Infrastructure 12c Release 1 (12.1). This role makes the need for the
crsuser
functionality unnecessary. Thecrsuser
facility was also previously used to create user-defined CRS resources that ran as a Windows user other thanLocalSystem
. However, Oracle Grid Infrastructure 12c Release 1 (12.1) and later releases provide that same functionality withcrsctl add wallet -type OSUSER
Thecrsuser
feature no longer works. It is no longer developed or supported. For more information about the
crsctl add wallet -type OSUSER
command, refer to Oracle Clusterware Administration and Deployment.
