Operating system

Oracle Database XE for Windows x64 is supported on the following operating system versions:

  • Windows 7 x64 - Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions
  • Windows 8.1 x64 - Pro and Enterprise editions
  • Windows 10 x64 - Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions
  • Windows Server 2012 x64 - Standard, Datacenter, Essentials, and Foundation editions
  • Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 - Standard, Datacenter, Essentials, and Foundation editions
  • Windows Server 2016 x64 - Standard, Datacenter, and Essentials editions

Virtualization

Oracle certifies the following virtualization technologies with Oracle Database on Windows:

  • Oracle VM Server
  • Microsoft Hyper-V

Disk space

8.5 gigabytes minimum for Oracle software, plus 2 gigabytes or more for temporary storage

RAM

2 gigabytes RAM minimum

3.1.2 Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio

If you are doing development using Visual Studio, you can install Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio on the same computer on which you installed Oracle Database XE.

3.2 Permission Requirement for Installing Oracle Database XE

You must be part of the Administrators group on Windows to install Oracle Database XE. If you are logged in as a domain user, ensure sure that you are connected to the network before you install Oracle Database XE.
