10.3.1 About Grid Infrastructure Management Repository Installation

You can install Grid Infrastructure Management Repository (GIMR) for Oracle Standalone Cluster.

Starting with Oracle Grid Infrastructure 21c, the Grid Infrastructure Management Repository will be configured in a separate Oracle home, instead of Oracle Grid Infrastructure home (Grid home). This option is available if you choose to configure GIMR during a fresh installation or you add a GIMR to an existing Oracle Grid Infrastructure deployment.

Note:

Installing GIMR is optional for Oracle Standalone Clusters.

Install and configure Grid Infrastructure Management Repository in a new Oracle home after installing and configuring Oracle Grid infrastructure. After you install Oracle Grid Infrastructure and choose to install GIMR, you need to download and install Oracle Database software of the same version as Oracle Grid Infrastructure.

If you choose to install GIMR during Oracle Grid Infrastructure installation, then you are prompted to create a new Oracle ASM disk group for GIMR and your decision is recorded in Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR). Cluster Verification Utility (CVU) creates a log to remind you to install GIMR. However, if you do not choose to install GIMR during Oracle Grid Infrastructure installation, then CVU does not remind you to create a GIMR.

Note:

You can choose to use the same disk as used for Oracle Grid Infrastructure (OCR) or you can use a new disk for GIMR.
